Owner description: More of a wholesale market than a shopping experience, the fresh flower market has become a tourist attraction thanks to its sheer size, beauty and exoticism.

I visited the flower market in March 2014. Although it was recommended to visit in the night I could only go during the day so decided to go anyways....and it was well worth it! What a riot of colours and flowers overflowing everywhere! Couldn't resist picking up bunches of orchids for as little as 10-20 Bhat per bunch. :)
I got there by the orange flag river boat from the main pier at Saphan Taksin/Sathorn. Got off at the Memorial Bridge pier and walked down the road to the market. If you visit in the evening, please note the boat timings carefully as some of the boat services end after 4.30 pm!

My wife and I visited this market near Chinatown in early April 2014. We got out where the flower market met the night market. We had just eaten some street food in Chinatown on Yaowarat Road but I wish I had waited as there was more variety of food to be found here. We first explored the night market which had loads of goods from jeans and jewelry to luggage and DVDs. The market looped around and ended back on the other side of the flower market. The flower market is quite large, at least 5x5 blocks and was pretty amazing. There were flowers everywhere and lots of activity. The previous reviews said to go very late (4am) but we went at about 10pm. There were no foreigners and it was not touristy at all. Very much worth a visit.

Reading previous reviews it seams that this market reaches its pik interest after 01.00AM. At this time I like to sleep and therefore hesitated whetherto visit this market in a more reasonable night time for me like 21.00 or 22.00PM. I tryed it and was not disappointed at all. The hugh quantity and variety of flowers along hubdreds of meters is quite impressing at this "non pik" night time as well. If you start at the Southern part of the market, then proceed further Northboubd towards the next market of fruits and vegetables. I continued moving to the North on the same road additional few hundreds meters and just before the river boat station turned left into a short (about 50 meters) and quited dark alley. On the right side at the end of the alley go up through an external stair-case to the upper level of a bar restaurant. There you'll find a magnificant view of the Wat Arun just in the opposite side of the river.

Go here after dark and you will be treated with a colorful spectacle. This wholesale market is a must for flower enthusiasts, and you can buy orchids for a steel. To get there take the riverboat, exit under the bridge and it is only a short walk to the market. Beware of the heavy traffic around the market as your eyes are so much attracted to the flowers. If you leave after 20:00 hrs or so, beware that the boats don't run that late and, depending where you are going, to get a taxi can be tricky (drivers don't always want to take you). Buy at least one bunch of orchids to cheer up your hotel room, you won't need more then 50 bath.
