It is definetely a must do when you are in Bangkok. Very different experience when you are on the of of the 84th floor revolving roof top. They charge 400 Bhats/pax (complimentry drink)

There is a nice Bar-Lounge on 83rd floor where they offer a complimentry drink. This is the place ideal for a romantic date or a relaxed evening while watching the beautiful skyline of Bangkok.

I have been here twice with 5 years interval. Nothing has been changed. It's still the same. Food isn't good in both buffet and ale-cart. Many people there to get on lift to top floor. Terrible. Come here if you want to look over Bangkok city but nothing more than that.

Not a bad trip. We went around 7pm and had supper in the restaurent with amazing night view of the city. Food was good buffet style. Prawns were excellent. Has a rotating observation deck.

Nice views.
Was given a good seat near the windows.
The food tasted NORMAL. So it was quite expensive (in my opinion)

Trip advisor reviewers will tell you to go just before sunset as the 'sundowner' experience when you see all the lights come on the roof structures of Bangkok. This is beautiful and gives a hint of peacefulness bases on man's appreciation of the things he can build beautifully. We agree but have seen the sundowner elsewhere free of charge up high so we did not do this at sunset...5.30 pm but in the daytime.
At sunset the charge goes from 300 baht per person to 400 baht. We think the changover time is 6pm but check the hotel website. Do not forget this is Baiyoke Sky Tower 2 not 1.
We did this in the day time. Nearest BTS (sky train) is Phayathai on the Mochit branch. Walk about 15 minutes. However if you are walking impaired go to Phayathai BTS station and then take the 'City Line one stop to Ratchaprarop station also on the city line. From there it is a 10 minute easy walk. At the City Line station there are lifts and escalators but they do not cover all levels so if you are walking impaired or a wheelchair user come by taxi. The ‘city line’ is the one serving Suvarnabhumi airport.
For the record It is called Baiyoke Sky Tower 2. You need help if impaired at the ground level, which t was so busy we could not see if there was a wheelchair ramp or lift up to the ticket booth. Immediately alongside the ticket booth there is a foreign money exchange and it was open in the daytime.

We researched the hotel website and you can buy the usual ticket that gets you an alcoholic drink but that only includes a local (thai) whiskey and sprite/cola mixer but the drink is iced or a Heineken or singha beer (0.5 litres) again chilled. Sorry ladies no nice cocktail for you. The drinks are in the enclosed bar on the 83rd Floor. We had our ‘free’ drink and decided to stay for an extra one because we wanted to rest in comfortable chairs after a lot of walking that day. Now in the enclosed bar some of the windows are tainted different shades and that slightly impairs the views.
The drinks menu that you pay for are priced cocktails at 150 baht each. However a 300 baht bill came to in excess of 350 bhat (for 2 of us) because they add service charge and VAT as an EXTRA. No doubt you will come to this place with enough money but if your budget is ‘tight’ then beware before you buy extra.
One of us suffers mild vertigo so the 77th floor was the best fun with a few seats near the floor to ceiling glazing and there are panels identifying the points to be seen. There are souvenir stalls, highly painted tuk tuks and some montages of dancers, royalty and children that you can stand behind and put your face through for a photo…. You know the experience as they still have this attraction at seaside piers in the UK. Some fun photos on this floor. There are toilets albeit limited and small and Mums we think the children/grandchildren will enjoy this experience.

The revolving deck is about 1.75 metres wide on the 84th floor and because this is open air you will get better photographs. Obviously do not go on a cloudy day or when it is raining. You will have to get up close to the edge to make sure the wire safety mesh does not show up in your photos.
Now there is always a haze hanging over Bangkok because there are so many cars in this city of 12+ million and this pollutes the atmosphere although nothing like as bad as Shanghai YET! That means your view to the distant seamouth of the River Chao Phraya and the distant details North, West sad East are limited. That was the point of this excursion wasn’t it?
So a good experience but not outstanding.
In my profile (reviews in Bangkok) I have given one other review where you can get the Sundowner experience far cheaper but it is not so high and not for children.
Mums and Dads…there is a treat for the kids though. If you search the hotel website you will find for 350 baht you can get to the viewing deck and then go to the Fruit Bar, I think it is on the 19th Floor and there you and the kids can have unlimited fruit or crushes which I think the children will enjoy. This floor will be far less crowded. However be sure to make sure you do not go below the Hotel reception which is well above the ground floor as you might not get back in for the fruit bar once at ground level.

We saw people with children and collapsible buggies in the lift but the staff make you collapse the buggies and carry the children as the lift space is at a premium.

You will come down in a different lift so do not make arrangements to meet someone later by the lifts!

Do your online research and Be blessed.

Chris & Anna.
PS One hour is sufficient unless you go to the Buffet/fruit bar
