As soon as you get to Khao San Road you can see the tourist traps as the "free" tuk-tuk's line up to take people to their mates tailors and jewellery's. Allot more westernised and not a true reflection of Thai-markets.
Constant hassling with shop keepers being a little to friendly then curse when you don't buy anything. Compared to other parts of Bangkok everything is more expensive and can't be haggled.
Watch out for the taxi's, most will not go by meter and will rip you off many times the actual fare. Your best walking an extra couple of blocks and flag down a taxi and ask before you hop in "meter ?".
Picked up a floating market tour for 600baht from a vendor to escape the place which was worth it. If you aren't interested in buying "I love Bangkok" t-shirts I would advice you to walk around the city from about Victory Monument and check out the markets there.
