A longtime fav of ours for its varied food, shopping and accommodation on offer. Have a wander and you'll be hard pressed not to find something you like.

After visiting Bangkok on a few occasions and not liking it I had decided to give up on the place and then I found Banglamphu. When I visit I usually stay in the Royal Hotel which might just be on the Rattanakosin side of the borough border but is still close by. Banglamphu is so unlike the rest of Bangkok because it is clean and pretty and not covered over by Express Ways and Sky Train. It has the world famous Kao Sahn Road which is great for the young (but a bit noisy for me) and just across the road from there the Chana Songkram Temple which is open during the day and provides a nice walk through to the Pra Ahtit Pier (on the road of the same name) for access to the river. At night the area around Chana Songkram Temple offers relaxed and fun bars and cheap but very good cafe/restaurants. Look for the bar/restaurant the sells BBQ grilled Red Snapper it tastes great (150bht). On Pra Ahtit Road opposite the small park is a little treasure called The Ginger Bread House. Go there for lovely cakes great coffee and a really sweat atmosphere. Nearby is Rattankosin area which houses the Royal Palace and so much more. I know it's hot but If you're able get a map and wander around these neighbouring areas and I'm sure you will find your own little treasure.

It's in the old town Bangkok. You can find literally EVERYTHING here. There are so many food vendors and restaurants those provide you good food. Clothes and shoes and beauty products can be found here with a really good deal. People are nice and absolutely helpful when you need help. No far from anywhere at all. The only issue is the traffic will be super busy.

The place to be if you are a 20's backpacker. Fun to visit occasionally if you are older. Great transportation hub

This is my favorite neighborhood to spend a few days first arriving into Thailand to pick up the necessary supply of misquito repelent, the new skirt and scarf I just cant live without, and to enjoy a beer sitting at street cafe watching all the new travelers arriving in Bangkok treking thru the area with their backpacks heavy on their backs. This is where the backapackers stay, the ones looking to chill for a few days , not for the ones looking for those luxury hotels with swimming pools and workout rooms. This area is full of great shopping, delicious street food, and the much needed thai massage with ligit massueuses. This area is across from the famous Khao San Road, but its much more quiet, has a bit of a older, hipper crowd, but stll lots of places to grab a drink, they set up bar and cafes on the streets at night! My favorite place to stay here is the Lamphu House, very popular,,,make sure to make a reservation far in advance!
