Lots of options to check out, good to visit if you want to sight-see or maybe shop/buy items and eat street-food at the same time. Food choices are available too.Though price wise, not as cheap as before (maybe because it is touristy). Very accessible for transport as there is a train line with a stop in Chatuchak itself. Still a good place to
consider if you are a tourist and first time to do it. But if your main purpose is shopping, there are more cheaper options i.e. Pratunam area.

We headed to Chatuchak early (930am) as we wanted to avoid the crowds. Some stalls were still not open, so if you'd like the full experience (crowd included), go slightly later. We found the stores to be selling pretty much the same touristy stuff with clothes, bags and knick-knacks. However, if you'd like to have a different experience, go to the animal section which is outside the main Chatuchak compound. A word of caution that the animals are not kept in the most comfortable cages nor are some of them treated well. However, there is a lot of illegal wildlife trade happening (we saw a stand within the main compound promoting that we do not buy any of the creatures) and we saw animals that shocked us (capybara, fennec foxes, etc.). Go for an experience, but don't buy the animals!

I like the market and various food :) I was able to get a quality shoes at affordable rates. You will need at least a day to cover the entire market. Only opens from Friday evening upto Sunday. We went on Saturday (our last day in Bangkok).

Early to mid November. Family of 6 with 4 kids in the 7-14 age range. Hot when we went. But it was filthy. I know where we’re visiting, but it was gross. Some of the sewer smells took away from our hunger. A lot of junk and useless items for sale. Legit junk. If you want cheap stuff while smelling sewers smells, head here. Cheap prices. Some will negotiate on price, some won’t. Still cheap price regardless.

I recommend you to visit the Chatuchak Weekend Market, if you are interested in souvenirs, clothes, food etc. I bought a lot of magnets, 2 pairs of shorts for 150thb, a pair of nice flip flops for 150thb as well and I tried coconut ice cream.
The prices are ridiculously low and feel free to haggle. It's better to go in the morning.

Chatuchak is the most amazing market. It is massive and has everything including a fantastic local food area where you can try the best Thai street food in Bangkok. It’s a great experience and super cheap.

Tip - if you see something you like buy it because you might not see it again.

Weekend market is amazing!!! the perfect place to buy gifts and souvenirs for your loved ones. One needs an entire day to roam around. I spent six hours here and still couldn't see all of it- its massive! but totally worth it! Please wear comfortable shoes and if planning to shop a lot or shop heavy items then take someone along as it gets really hard to carry stuff and walk around- the train station is also a bit of a walk. Carrying a water bottle is a good idea and Sunblock!!!!

So much fun. Must plan to visit Bangkok with a weekend in the itinerary just to visit this market. So many roads and by lanes filled with shops. You cant stop shopping. In order to refresh yourself there are food, juice and fruit stalls. And if your feet get too tired must try the foot massage places in between the shops.
