“Great River in a Great City”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

First I must admit that I love water so I enjoy travelling on the Chao Pharya River by express boat, long tailed boat or tour boat. Most tourists visit it in one way or another. It is pleasant and interesting to hire a long tailed boat to tour the side canals (klongs in Thai) as it offers views of a lifestyle not available to most tourists. While on the side klongs, be sure to visit the Thai Royal Barge Museum where you get take close-up photos of HM the Kings main royal barges. Truely magnificent workmanship in these craft. Tours (day and overnight) are available to Ayutthaya. And don't forget that many Thais use the express boats as roughly north-south transportation into and out of downtown Bangkok.

“Sit and watch the world go by”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

Although I was only on the river as part of the hotel shuttle, I always saw something new and exciting when I was boating up and down. Watch for the giant catsish that can be seen from the pier of the Ramada Plaza Menam Riverside Hotel or in front of any temple that is located on the river.

“Haven't REALLY been to BKK until you tour the Chao Phraya”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

This is truly a must see in BKK. It's crazy, it's stinky but it's just fantastic to explore the Chao Phraya river and its amazing canals. The river and canals are host to many Thai homes, both extremely poor and fancier ones. Enjoy its merchants, its traffic, stop by the Temple of Dawn, take IN Bangkok.

“best way to enjoy bangkok”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 22, 2012

best way to enjoy bangkok if you have one or two days is take a river bus. it's not so hot and you can easily reach most of the best sites from the boat stops.
