“Typically Bangkok”

There are many districts of Bangkok that are just mental! Sukhumvit is definitely one of them. Full of bars, shops, quirky stalls, crazy traffic, there is plenty to see and do. The exceptionally efficient skytrain will take you right to Sukhumvit. I recommend a visit both during the day and at night so you can see the contrast between day and night life.

“Main Road, loads to see and do”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed December 27, 2013

This is the main shopping, eating, and nightlife area in Bangkok. I have been come here for more that 15 years and its always new, changing, wild and crazy. Parents! At night not a great spot for young kids, fun for an evening stroll but leave the young ones at hotel with some ice cream and a movie. On Sukimvit, there are 100's of street vendors selling food, shirts, toys, and some unmentionables. People watching here is an Olympic Sport so sit at a street bar, have a beer, and marvel at the world going by....

For first time visitors to Bangkok the skytrain is an absolute must. Skytrain gets you away from the hustle and bustle and traffic jams if you are into taxis. Using skytrain you can access many, many wonderful attractions and the use of the newly added airport link is a super bonus. There is no easier form of transport in Bangkok where you can access shopping plazas, restuarants and malls by stepping of the platform straight into the shopping experience.

Great malls, great food, great shopping. I stayed in Sukhumvit and will come back to it... I hate Khao San Rd so I stay here. I got all the really nice malls with absolutely fantastic food that caters to all shopping. There is absolutely no mall in Europe that compares to Terminal21 and that is not even the best mall of the area. Bangkok it's amazing for shopping and if you want to go to a place for great shopping, you come to Bangkok... not even Dubai (bah! Boringgg!!) You come here... from street markets to Dior shops...it truly has it all and I still can't get over the sweets, ice cream, desserts shops on here... truly fantastic but beware! and watch the scale! ;)

central and handy to everything, Sukhumvit is a great place to base yourself whilst holidaying in Bangkok.

Awesome public transport with the train system, cheap , efficent, ontime and central to everything and you can go just about everywhere.

Lots of shops, food, markets ............... just everything

try it, you will agree its probably the best place to stay in BKK.
