We stayed here for 4 nights and thought the price was reasonable for Bangkok at £20 a night for a double room with air con etc.
Pros-located near shopping malls with restaurants and cinema. BTS sky train station a 10 minute walk so easy to get to the central pier for Grand Palace and Wat Pho/Arun. Clean room and shower. Complimentary water each day. Good view from window. Friendly bell boy staff.

Cons - no hair dryer. The breakfast wasn't great for a restaurant this size. Fridge in the room made a lot of noise so we had to turn it off as we couldn't sleep.

Overall an adequate stay for a few nights if on a budget. We also booked a trip with the very nice travel operator lady who works in the hotel. The trip itself was ok but not that well organised but that isn't really the fault of the hotel. Friendly staff and good location make it a good option for a backpacker.

We were a little bit sceptical about this place before we arrived due to the reviews. They managed to arrange a taxi for us from the airport, and the bell boy and door staff were very friendly and helpful with our bags. The girls at reception were nice enough. They asked us for money for he taxi, my husband went to give it to the taxi driver but they stopped him saying they wanted it first (think they must take a cut). They then asked us to pay for e room which was fine as we were prepared for that. Then this woman who didn't speak very good English asked if we wanted a taxi book for the day we left (we were staying 4 nights), we said yes and then she wanted paying. We simply said no as we just wanted to get to our room and chill, plus we needed to get money out. Room was fine, a little worn but otherwise better than I expected it to be. Free small bottles of water. The laundry is extremely expensive so we didn't get it done there. No hair dryer in room or one we could borrow. Wifi was a little weak during peak times, but found in the evening it worked ok. Free breakfast, but mainly Asian food, for westerners there was toast, fruit and sometimes some anaemic looking pancakes. The meat all looked a bit dodgy, let alone the bright orange fried eggs! But staff in restaurant were nice. Room was a little noisy at night due to the street music outside the malls, but it stopped about 11.30. There isn't many cheap local restaurants around, we found a couple, but thee are loads of restaurants on the top two floors of the mall at Central World. Hotel was close to TBS line which made it easy to get around. Lady on tour desk was sweet and we booked a tour with her. The aircon was good, but sometimes was noisy. The fridge was incredibly noisy, so we unplugged it as couldn't sleep. It was like a washing machine going on full spin! Drinking water was only replaced every other day. Room cleaned well but the flush on the toilet leaked slightly every time we used it. Shower was powerful but would change from hot to cold very quickly and wouldn't stay one temp. After the 3rd day our room did start to develop a funny smell (perhaps it was the unplugged fridge?) but I think it's the brown blanket they use as a duvet in the bed sheets, don't think it's ever been washed and just stinks. Really musty.

Overall, it was fine for the pice and for 4 nights...I don't think I would of liked to stay much longer there.

Bangkok City Inn is one budget hotel that is so centrally located that I always prefer to stay here. All the big shopping malls such as BigC, Grand Central Isetan, Platinum, PANTIP Plaza etc. are right next door and the Super Rich Bank located nearby gives the best currency exchange. There is free 24 hrs High speed WIFI available which makes it easy to contact your family back home on Skype.

The waterway station is located just a few metres away which you can use to cruise to the wholesale market located at Bo bay towers without having to go through crowded city.

The only drawback is that the location is a little cramped and has no open space around.

Good for people who love shopping.

This hotel is cheap, clean and in best location, just right in the center of Pratunam and front of central world, rooms are abit smelly but once air conditioned is on, smells fades away.
Street foods are very close by with restaurants near by are very cheap.

This hotel is located in the tourist belt and a walking distance to major shopping centres like
central world plaza 2 min walk, platinum fashion mall 3min walk, pantip plaza 5min walk.
Clean bed and well kept surrounding. Service is good with friendly staff there to help.
Location and price is awesome.

Room Tip: I would prefer a central location as travelling by public transport is a headache Bangkok City has...

all. They also had a 'jae' flag in one of the dishes, meaning it is vegan. However, I could see clearly that there was egg in it.

The other reason I chose this hotel was because it boasted that it had a fitness centre and swimming pool on it's website. However, this was completely false. The staff were not at all apologetic and simply said something about it's their agency. The website appears to be theirs and should have been rectified.

I would not recommend this tin-pot establishment at all.
