I was recommended by a friend to visit the Jim Thompson house and was not disappointed by the recommendation. Easy to find and breathtaking as soon as you enter the grounds. A lovely piece of history in the centre of a busy city. You pay 100THB for a compulsory guided tour in English or French and they last around 30mins. Beautiful antiques are dotted throughout the house and grounds, and you can buy some of the infamous silk products in site for a medium to expensive price, but the quality reflects what you pay for. Overall a wonderful breather from the hectic Bangkok world and the crowds of the Grand Palace etc!

unless you are really interested in seeing the history and the production of silk. I was interesting but would I pay to do it again probably not. They also have shops if you actually want to buy something.

My favorite spot in Bangkok. Wonderful, peaceful garden, impressive building given that the teak house is made of many individual farmer buildings (still jealous for the fantastic living room).

We visited this on the 10th of july. Were welcomed by a very friendly staff, which led us to the ticket booth. Bought tickets and 20 minutes later we received a very nice tour around the place. The house is really nice, but in the end, there's really not that much to see.

Do this if you got time to spare in Bangkok, don't do this if you have other things to visit.

For the chance to see a traditional Thai house, beautiful artifacts, and a history of silk, don't miss this. And plan to stay for lunch - the fried rice is YUM!
