What a lovely place to visit, hard to believe you are right in the centre of one of the worlds major cities. The guided tour was very informative and at time quite light hearted, the guide spoke perfect near English. Very reasonable price for the tour 100thb. We did not eat in the restaurant, only had a drink, but the food being served looked verry good.

A little jaded perhaps, we decided to finally hit Jim Thompson House. What a great surprise. Really really worthwhile. If you into architecture and looking ideas for back home, this a not to miss. Our expectations were fairly low, our experience was far, far above that. Go!

The beautiful home of an American spy who helped saved the Thai silk industry. Very interesting tour of the home. Expensive but beautiful silk items in the store on the grounds.

This is the type of thing, that after visiting, makes you want to read more about when you get home.

Interesting story about an American who fell in love with Thailand and revived their silk industry. The house and grounds are lovely and the background story is intriguing.

Save this for a quiet day if you're in Bangkok for more than a few days. Otherwise if you're in Bangkok for 2-3 days leave this for another time; it'll be worth it.

Tour guides in several languages, gift shop selling silk and graphics (all high quality) restaurant. They have their own free Tuk Tuks carrying visitors from the house to the end of the street (Tuk Tuks are clearly marked as Jim Thompson House - so don't use any others)

Time to read up on this guy.

You can imagine the 1960's with Jim Thompson still living there.
Nice garden and little canal in front .
He had bought beautiful scuptures (some of the IXe century) and other masterpieces and decorated his living and dinning room with great taste.
