Before coming here I was told that you needed to reserve 1 week in advance. I was wondering why, given the fact that there is endless dining option in BKK, many good places are ready instantly upon your arrival. Then I understand why people make the effort to reserve and dine here, the food is really good. I still remember the taste of the porchetta even now, 2 months after the last visit. Highly recommended.

This restaurant is actually considered 'Roman', but no matter, every one of the 3 meals I ate here while in Bangkok was really outstanding. The ambience feels warm and inviting, the servings are generous, the cocktails are strong and well made (hard to find in Bangkok) the wine list really good, and the food has the real quality of a good home cooked meal.
All around a great spot!

A refreshing Italian restaurant in a saturated city of repetitive pasta & pizza eateries. A strong concentrated menu, where the calf tongue and prime rib is highly recommended. I was disappointed that the porchetta had run out, but will be looking forward to it the next time. Likewise, with the lamb chops which looked mouth watering at another table.

However, like with many establishments in the sukumvitt area, service is poor. Where orders were delayed, resulting us to cancel the aforementioned lamb (we were sharing). Likewise, a limited wine list - but the Spanish toro was decent.

Overall a pleasant evening, but the staff were obviously overwhelmed, and so if you want solid food you will have to exercise some patience and tolerate weak service.

Located in a small Soi off the beaten track, this is a little gem of a restaurant. We started with Chef's Cheese Platter, an excellent mix of cold cuts and excellent selection of cheese. Well presented on a platter. Next we ordered Gnochi, Nero Lobster Ravioli. The Gnochi was excellent! Smooth Gnochi and a great tomato sauce. The squid ink ravioli was bland but the ravioli was just right. For mains we order Porcheta and Lamb Ribs, both were excellent. The Porcheta was definitely the best I have had in Bangkok. Finally, the Tiramisu.
When you book make sure you get a table on the ground floor. Their kitchen is on the ground floor and the ventilation from the kitchen goes up and out the 2nd floor. Seating on the 2nd floor can be challenging when they cook their Lamb Ribs - it stinks and is a major drawback to a great diner.

Living in Bangkok for the last three years, we could always find decent Italian food, but nothing truly authentic--until now, with Appia. The food is absolutely delicious. Appia has traditional recipes, al dente pasta cooked correctly with carefully crafted sauces that impress with their complexity, and excellent service in an atmosphere that balances modern and traditional. Consistent, high-quality food with attentive service. Easily the best Italian in Bangkok.
