“Great taste of Somtum (papaya salad)”

This restaurant is in downtown on Nanglinchi road next to Soi 4 (off Sathorn road). With surprise, all menus with reasonable price for the downtown location in Sathorn prime area. The perfect combination of Thai and Isan food, great atmosphere! I really highly recommend it.

“Excellent Isaan-Thai Restaurant”
Reviewed February 18, 2013

The restaurant offers an alternative to the run-of-the-mill Thai food in the city. It features a predominantly Isaan (Isaan is the Northeastern region of Thailand and has its own type of food) menu, punctuated by some conventional favourite Thai dishes. Those not used to Isaan dishes should make it a point to order their food with less spice in it.

The restaurant is located in a quiet neighbourhood and is frequented locals who genuinely like the food there, testament to the authenticity of the restaurant's food. Foreigners who frequent this place are normally from the immediate vicinity, or are brought there by friends who know the place. Point is, you get a truly local experience with the food here, not the watered-down version of more commercialised establishments catering mainly to tourists.

The owner/operator is a very friendly chap who speaks very good English, so communication isn't a problem at this restaurant. His staff are very friendly and remember regular customers well. Two seating areas are available - indoor (air-conditioned) and outdoor. Recommended to go in the evening and finish dinner with a few rounds of beer (local and/or imported) or wine. You may also order coffee from the cafe downstairs if alcohol isn't your thing. There are numerous 'somtum' restaurants in the city, but I like this one because it offers a very friendly, casual and cafe-next-door type environment.
