“Great food, good staff, noisy floors”
Reviewed September 10, 2013

I always enjoy staying at Marriot hotels wherever they are in the world. No one seemed to know where this particular hotel is...perhaps because it is new, but certainly the google maps fix on this property was mistaken. As a guest, I was spoilt for the choices of food; their billing is odd, since they want you to sign off on a breakfast bill, but then on check out they offset the amount as breakfast is complimentary. It took us 3 days to understand the system, as there was no one who would patiently explain this. The waiters were very helpful, as long as you did not communicate with them. The rooms were very comfortable, the mattress and the pillows were some of the best quality I've ever experienced and I stay in hotels close to 40% of time. The bathrooms have a huge window, that can make you feel exposed, though there is a remote control that can control the blinds...it's quite "interesting" to say the least. Internet was fast and good, and free. The chocolate lounge was to die for...and the location of the hotel is excellent. Except it is almost impossible to get a metered taxi to the hotel. There is a cartel of cabbies standing outside the hotel that demand a fixed fare. All in all, I had a very pleasant stay, it's a great hotel for meetings, conferences. Thanks!

Dear angelachau,

Warm Greeting from Bangkok Marriott Hotel Sukhumvit!

Thank you very much for your great feedback in regards the variety of food, good level of service, room comfortable, best quality of mattress and pillows, nice bathroom decoration, nice room amenities and modern style, nice chocolate lounge which we call CCCO and convenience of hotel location.

And I do apologize for make you confused with the breakfast billing system and bad taxi manners. This is certainly not how we wish our guests to feel. These issues are taken very seriously and corrective measures are in process.

We are look forward to welcoming you on your future trips to the hotel hopefully very soon.

Thank you and Best regards,

Our 2nd visit to Bangkok this time we staid at the newly opened Marriott on Sukhumvit 57 we had booked the room with executive floor access which was very good. We were given a very nice corner room on the 31st floor from our bathtub we had a view of Sukhumvit and the city.
The room had a big round bathtub which fitted both of us. After getting settled we went for a short exploration tour to see where the swimming pool and gym were located. We went up to the executive floor to have a look there since it was lunch time we had some of the delicious sandwiches which they provided for the guests tea, coffee, different juices and soft drinks. After lunch we went into the city to shop because that was the meaning of our trip partly, last year we had done all the temples and Royal Palace. Since we like to use the metro in Bangkok because first of all it's fast, safe and not expensive. They even improved and had now plastic metro cards which you could top op available which is excellent. If you stay in the Sukhumvit area a lot of the great shopping location are near. So after shopping it was already after 6 pm when we reach back to the hotel. We decided to try The District which is the steak house 2nd floor in the hotel. We had a starter which we shared but we found it both too sour. I had steak and my husband had lamb rack which came both cooked to perfection the way we had asked it, we had some side dishes Fries, veggies and I had the bearnaise sauce and my husband had the peppercorn sauce.
Since we were both full and it was already late we didn't have dessert.
We had a quick after dinner drink on the 40th floor and went to our room.
The following morning we had a very nice breakfast at the Executive floor a big selection of Danish, croissants as well as warm items, fresh juices and fruits, tea and coffee often they would serve it to you at the table. The employees all very friendly and attentive.
Today we would go and see friend who was in the JW Marriott hotel also on Sukhumvit for a food promotion. That evening we all went for dinner to the new Baan Khanitha at Sukumvit 53 so walking distance from the hotel. The food was very good like when we went last time this location is more modern while the other location is with more wood. But it's convenient that it's closer to the hotel otherwise we would have to take the metro or a taxi. The following day I went swimming after breakfast we went to the gym and I had and appointment so for some beauty treatment after that we wanted to go to Vimamrek teak wood house but that is located out of the city so we got stuck in traffic and what I didn't know was it was also located on Royal grounds so there is a dress code and I was still wearing a short skirt and sleeveless top so we couldn't go in so we took a taxi back to the hotel but got stuck in traffic again. Then we went to look for a bar located near the hotel but didn't found it so walked back to the hotel where I asked the concierge we had been close but it was further down the road. That evening we decided to try the local restaurant which one of the employees from the 40th floor had recommended to us located even closer to the hotel on 53 called Baan Ice, we were the only foreigners in the restaurant but the food was excellent and service as well only some of the staff spoke English but they were all very friendly. Another nice experience if you like Thai food spicy. After that spicy food we decided to try the bar located on the roof top of the hotel but there the service was very slow, had to wait for a long time for our drinks to arrive and it started to rain a little so we had to hurry. The location is great and view as well a shame about the service.
The next day we had to pack and leave by noon for the airport to fly to our next destination. The taxi who took us to the airport was going so fast I got a little scarred but we made it safe and he didn't over charge which was good we got there fast, so still plenty of time.

Room Tip: High floors they have a great view of the city.

Dear Travellers & Gerrit G, have been to Marriott Sukhumvit countless times now. Currently staying from 7 Sep to 10 Sep. Have given much feedback since its soft open few months back. Had experience of falling down in bathroom's slippery floor and now hotel takes steps to prevent such incidents by providing anti-skid mats.
I have always booked directly from Marriott but i believe this hotel deserves additional mention in all agent websites like TripAdvisor and Agoda.
Although a cat 4 property in Marriott, it looks and feels more like a cat 6 or better. From front office Kunthari to The District's George to 57th Street's Phaiphan, this hotel has staff that cares for its guests and strives to give them the best. Best of all, hotel makes no distinction between guests. Whether I am Marriott Plat member or third party booking guest, we can expect to get the best.
The District serves high-end steaks, etc. coupled with great wines. 57th Street serves awesome spread of local, Indian, Japanese, Western dishes.... and a "sinful" spread of deserts.
For those with Exec Lounge access, enjoy the view, the food and the service.
If only every hotel could be like Marriott Sukhumvit......

Rod H. (Canada)
Stayed for 3 nights and had access to executive lounge where breakfast was great each morning and 4 hours from 5:30 - 9:30 each evening was free flowing drinks, great wines and alright selection of foods to eat. Hotel is a across the street from sky train which can bring you to centre of city in 15 minutes. Staff was great. Rooms are spacious, new and very clean. A must see is the Octave lounge which is located outside on floors 45 - 49. View and bar on the 49th floor is like no other you've seen before.
Definitely will be back!

Glad we chose to stay here. The staff was very nice and helpful to all our needs. Location is great, too. Far from the busy streets but walkable to the train station. But best of all, we loved the city from from our bath room! Cool! :)

My ex and I stayed here just prior to us leaving for Australia. We had come here from Phuket. While here we lounged around the pool and had something to eat. In the lounge there were some asians playing Beetle songs.I also had a Thai massage. Earlier I went out and got two custom suits. They were delivered to or room and i tried them on, they had to do some adjustments but they were delivered to us in time for us to catch the plane back to Australia. We had a great time the whole trip.

Cheers

2 nights spent there during our visit to Bangkok ... Deluxe rooms. Superb design of rooms and bathroom. Not extremely spacious rooms yet comfortable. Nice pool.
Sukhumvit is a very busy road, so lots to see and shop and eat but lots of traffic. Taxi drivers do not like it .... Too much traffic.
Hotel is close to emporium mall at s39.

Room Tip: Choose a high floor for good view......
