“New hotel within shopping haven”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 28, 2013 via mobile

A new hotel in the heart of Pratunam Market. Nope u cant hear the din outside the hotel.

Venue:
Not near BTS stations.
Taxi drivers are not sure of the direction to hotel. Maybe bcoz it's new. But you can tell the driver to stop at Baiyoke Hotel. It's a 5mins walk fr there, near 7-11. Look up for the hotel's sign. There's a small escalator to go up the hotel's lobby.

Room:
Deluxe room was huge and clean. Big wardrobe. Soft duvet and comfortable beds. Great shower. A nice set of toiletries. Fluffy towels. Clean daily. Extra pillows. Safe box. Nothing to fault with the room. Do note that chilled bottle water is chargeable.

However, do be very careful with the raised floor bathroom. You can get a bad fall if you trip. It's raised from the floor like a good 20cm.

Spacious lobby. 2 free bottled water each day. Do note it's a new hotel launch in Aug 2012.

Coffee World is just beside the recep if you need a caffeine fix. If not, their street coffee vendors blend you a great cuppa too at fractions of cafe cost.

TV channels were the only cons. English channels were non-existance when I was there. But you still can do without :)

Service:
All reception on duty were well trained and friendly. Check-in was a breeze. All enquiries were entertained well.

The massage place under hotel is not good. It was recently opened. Only have foot massage 300THB and fullbody massage 600THB. Staff were accomadating. Full body massage can be done in the room. But after trying the foot massage which I didn't felt relax, I cancelled the full body massage. They are not stocked yet and still very bare. Not even a blanket.

Food:
Available outside hotel till night. Cheap street food and international cuisine. 7-11 is opp hotel. Hotel's breakfast is so-so. Hotel's food and beverage are reasonaly priced if you want to try. Platinum have a great foodcourt at level 6.

Shop:
Great cheap buys near hotel. Pratunam Market for wholesale and cheap buys. Along Pratunam walkways are filled with stalls and night market.
Walkable to Platinum Mall (10mins); Central World (15mins); Siam Paragon/Discovery (20mins). Siam Square is undergoing major reno and the whole place is close. Night market opp Siam Paragon open on wkend nights. I usually take the BTS at Siam station coz it's all the more reason for me to shop along the way.

Taxi:
Hotel can book a meter taxi on yr behalf if you intend to go to places. I only took a taxi to Don Mueng Airport for 600THB (fare set by hotel). You can flag your own taxi along the road too. From Don Mueng to hotel is 300THB including 50THB airport charge. Taxi from airport followed meter. Tips is optional.

Cheers

New and tidy hotel with a very cool air cond after the hot and humid weather. Restaurant at the hotel serves delicious food especially the tom yum. Strategic location for ladies to shop for clothes, accessories etc.

My wife and I stayed 11 nights at the 93 from the beginning of January. We normally stay at the Indra Regent but decided we needed a change.
Our stay was off to a bad start, The room smelled dreadfully musty and the super efficient airconditioning was noisy, and was fitted with a blue LED light that was unbelievably bright at 2am!
We discovered the mouldiness was caused by a bad leak in the retro-fitted bathroom when water percolated into the bedroom from under the bathroom wall. We had to run the shower for ages to get the water temperature to lukewarm.
These problems were quickly resolved by the management. We were shifted to another room without any fuss, although the water temperature never rose above the barely acceptable level. The problem room number was 212, but I heard banging from that area a day or two later so the leak and musty smell may be fixed.
Both rooms we occupied were very clean, had beautiful linen, and had a nice modern feel. There was no real outlook from the bedrooms, just a view of the old building next door. Some of the rooms at the front have balconies and an outlook onto the street.

The staff are all young, very pleasant, and helpful. The owner, a pleasant older chinese woman, was always around at breakfast time and often seen during the day. The breakfasts were excellent. A wide variety of mainly asian food, but plenty to appeal to western palates. The various dishes were cooked in small amounts and were constantly refreshed over the breakfast period (7-10am) This caused some items to run out from time to time. All of the foods I ate were delicious, although at times they could have been hotter.

Two of the best features of the 93 are the first floor balcony, and ground floor restaurant, where you can sit and watch the passing parade while having a beer, snack, or meal. We took to having our breakfast on the balcony while watching the traders getting into gear for the day.

The 93 is located right in the heart of the Pratunam wholesale garment area with literally thousands of suppliers within walking distance. It is situated on a narrow road that does suffer from gridlock and does make it hard to tell taxis where you want to go. We directed them to the landmark Baiyoki Sky Hotel, which is just around the corner, and then re-directed them from there. If you want to ship any purchases home there are a dozen cargo merchants handy. Ours (Speed Cargo) were 50 m away and made it very simple to ship goods home.

To summarise. PLUSES. Clean, modern, nice people to deal with, reasonable price,
convenient if you are wholesale shopping, great balcony restaurant.
MINUSES Water not hot enough.

Location is in the heart of pratunam. Walkable distance to platinum mall & Indra Regent & Baiyoke area. If you are taking a cab, tell the driver to turn left into soi 17, go straight till the end of the road, then make a right turn and you'll see The 93 Hotel on your left. Not difficult to find the hotel so need not worry a bit.

Hotel is run by local chinese family, the owners who are of middle age couple always sitting around the lobby area. It has 5 levels in total but somehow the lift only serves up to level 4 so i had to use the stairs since i stayed at level 5. Free wifi but you need the password from the reception. Breakfast include sausage, bacon, eggs, porridge, fried rice/noodle and toast. coffee/tea & juices too, pretty good for me. The room is modern & clean. But the bathroom is very very narrow and seriously i was pretty upset with the water temperature, it's always not warm & just like normal tap water temperature. However, i must compliment the aircond, its like super powderful. The bed & bedsheet & pillows are brand new & of good quality. Had pretty good sleep throughout the night, really.

Live band in the coffee house and food prices is very reasonable though not the cheapest. about S$5 for pineapple rice S$3 for fresh juices or cocktail & S$12 for a steak etc.

Overall i had a good stay in The 93 Hotel and i will come back again!

hope you find my reply useful to you. if you ask if i will go back again, i would say YES.

Room Tip: Do not ask for rooms on 5th floor as you need to use the staircase from level 4 onwards.
