As soon as we stepped into the hotel, we knew this was going to be different. "Good" different or "bad" different was what we had to wait for. And then .... we entered the room and were truly floored. Modern chic is the only words I can use to describe the room. The bathroom was fantastic. the bathtub was actually in the room and great way to soak and watch TV or your fave movie on the Blu ray player. They don't carry any movies, so you may want to load up that flash drive.
Arriving in Suvarnbhoomi airport for a 5N/6D vacation, we hit the taxi station and reached the hotel at 8 am. The total fare including tolls (70 baht) - 300 baht. Ended up paying 400 baht since the taxi driver insisted that's what I had to pay. However, on the way back to the airport, we had a more scrupulous driver who took only what was due.
Since our check in was not until 2 pm, we paid half a day's tariff for checking in early. This was about 1950 baht including breakfast for two. We booked the room on booking.com and paid 3900 per night for a deluxe room (garden view - room no 708) with breakfast for two.

Located just across the road from the famous MBK mall and the Siam group of malls and in close proximity to the Central mall, Platinum malls and Pantip plaza, Hua Chang was in the reckoning right away. All these malls are within a mile radius. Best explored walking. The BTS was also only just a few minutes away.
Check in was a breeze and the staff at the reception were very helpful. In fact the staff at the hotel during our entire stay were extremely helpful and courteous.
The only problem of course was their English language skills. According to Wikipedia, Thailand ranks at the bottom two when it comes to English proficiency in the entire Asian region.
Most importantly, "Siam Exchange" was right next door for our currency exchange and this place was offering the best bang for the dollar in the whole of Bangkok. Please carry your passports though.
We ate once at the only in house restaurant in the hotel. Nothing to actually write home about with regards to the fare. Could have been definitely better. Breakfast was only so so.
A spa would have been a great addition. The pool seemed to be small yet very inviting the way it was designed to appear something like a tropical pond.
I would definitely stay here again, since all the places (malls) are nearby and the area is not congested like Sukhumvit. However, Sukhumvit is close by and can be accessed by BTS if you don't want to be stuck in the notorious Bangkok traffic.
FYI:
If you are looking for branded, original sunglasses/ watches/ cosmetics / fragrances, skip the malls of Bangkok. The promotions they offer are a big farce. Wait till you get to the airport. The prices at the malls were ridiculous and the discounts were in the range of 70% but still at least 20% pricier than the duty free shopping at the airport.
I was thoroughly disgusted with myself for paying 5500 baht at Siam square for a pair of sunglasses that was selling at only 4500 baht at the airport. And I got a discount 20% !!
Don't forget to get your VAT refund certificates from the stores your shopping in the city. They are not going to remind you, but be aware you can get 7% of the sale back at the airport. The sale has to be over 2000 baht and you have to get the certificate the same day. There will be a long wait as the person behind the counter will check and recheck and recheck again to refund the money. BTW you have to go the last entry in the airport, get your stuff verified from one counter and then go the gates to get your refund. Tedious. May be fun for some. Can be skipped altogether of you were to shop dutyfree at the airport.More
