The hotel is on the river, just in front of the temple area, the restaurant area enjoys a splendid view of the palaces.
Rooms are quite small but clean, it has no elevator so i do not suggest it to people with walking stick/ wheelchair or similar.
Be careful there is another hotel called "rattanakosin" , sometimes taxi drivers make confusion.
Breakfast is good but it is not buffet, you have to make your own choice , this slow things down a little; it should be open at 700 am but at 710 they are still opening up shop:breakfast is a slow affair,

We had a great time at this hotel. Room 303 is a corner unit which is quiet at night with a nice view of Wat Poh. The rooftop bar has excellent views, the breakfast spot has a nice view of the comings and goings along the river. Food options made it easy to make healthy choices, I never expected to find quinoa in Thailand :). Staff were all really pleasant and helped with travel arrangements. No problem with a 3am arrival time, we were greeted with fresh juice.

Amazing change in a couple of months. Obviously the owners believe they've got it made and need no longer pay it any attention. Our dinner (3rd occasion in 4 months) took ages to order, caused undue panic amongst the lovely, young but very poorly trained staff, was slow to arrive and it was impossible to add anything further - like wine. The staff were incredibly poorly prepared and looked like rabbits in the headlights when approaching tables. Food was ok - but the whole experience from initial drinks on the upper-deck (same staff running from there to the restaurant on the floor below) to the end of the visit, was never to be repeated. Ignore the rave reviews - they must be based on an earlier period when the owners took an interest.

Dear Graham S,

Thank you for taking the time to inform us of your recent negative experience at Sala Rattanakosin Bangkok. It is disappointing to read that despite having won your confidence previously over several visits, our service on this last experience was so far below your expectations that you have decided not to return.

Let me assure you that regular training is conducted with all of our employees, for both those that have been with us since opening and our recently appointed team members. I can only apologize for the lapse of service on this occasion and focus our efforts further on ensuring this doesn't happen again.

It would be of great assistance if you could email me directly with the date that you visited our property, so that we can address the service issues you experienced directly.

Please feel free to contact me directly at gmboutique@salaresorts.com.

Kind regards

Anthony van Sleeuwen

We only stayed there for one night and had a superior room on the 4th floor (no elevator).
This boutique hotel is located between the Chao Phraya and Maharat Road, just opposite Wat Pho. It is hidden at the end of a tiny and very busy strip, so taxis may have a bit of a hard time to find it.
We loved the "darkish" industrial style of this hotel. Not flashy yet very trendy.
Our room was typically "boutique" but had everything we needed for a short stay.
The roof top bar on 5th floor is a must see, it offers 360 view on the city.
We had dinner on the outdoor deck overlooking the river, food was very decent but not spectacular.
Very friendly staff from check in to check out.

Very nicely converted industrial building direct on the waterfront. Pass the time sipping coktails appreciating the views of Wat Arun and the Grand Palace, or watching the boats go by. Stunning location for this. Restaurant food is very good as is the breakfast, except for the fact that you cannot have fruit AND savoury without paying extra. Worst thing about this place is level of cleanliness: dirty tables, stained sofas with crumbs all over - even first thing in the morning. Surfaces and floors in rooms are not properly cleaned. Excellent service, polite, friendly and efficient front desk and concierge. If eating in the restaurant be sure to get a table with chairs not sofas - the sofas are so low that your chin will be at table height - I had to sit on a tower of 4 cushions, and I am tall! They are obviously trying hard to fix the smelly corridors (see other reviewers entries) as when we were there they had air cleaning machines everywhere - which seems to help a bit. Great big windows in rooms are fantastic and mean you can lie in bed and watch the boats go by, but cannot be opened to get fresh air, and the aircon is noisy, as is the room itself if you ar above the restaurant. When we stayed, they seemed only to have one CD of very nice music, but after the 10 th play it got a bit annoying.

Room Tip: Ensure you ask for a river facing room

We stayed here 3 nights in wat arun deluxe room (4th floor).

Pros:
**Awesome view of wat arun n chaopraya river.
**Awesome breakfast!
**Friendly staff
**Awesome rooftop bar
**Room has big shower room. Very nice and clean
**located in central bangkok

Cons:
** the hotel is hidden at the end of a narrow strip entrance so it is very very hard to find.
**no elevator...so someone like my mon would be a challenge.
