Leave your guilt feelings about a healthy diet behind as you enter Ete, as this is a place for a bit of indulgence. Ete is on the second floor of the Silom Complex in Bangkok. It's easy access from the Skytrain station - down a few steps, into the complex, veer left past another ice creamery and Ete is around the corner on your left. There are leather banquettes as well as tables and chairs for customers. While the magnet is ice cream, Ete does fantastic frappes and smoothies which are very good, as well as snacks. But it's ice cream for us every trip to Bangkok and sometimes on a daily basis. It's that good. I tell my conscience that all the walking and Bangkok's heat burn up any calories I get at Ete... The ice cream is some of the best I've had anywhere, served up by staff who are very friendly. Ice cold water is served as soon as you sit down, and then you spend some time spent drooling through a colourful and comprehensive book of Ete's ice cream and drinks sensations. From double scoops on a dish through to the ultimate - the fondue - 10 scoops of ice cream including mango, green tea, strawberry and other flavours, plus fresh fruit and a bowl of hot chocolate for dipping. (It's probably best to share this). The low cost would make any Sydneysider weep with joy, as back home you'd be lucky to get two scoops in a cone.
