Owner description: Created by Sakul Intakul, an internationally-renowned Thai floral artist, The Museum of Floral Culture is Bangkok’s new tourist’s attraction especially developed for those who love floral arts and those who are interested in Thai art and culture with special focus on Thai floral culture which is an important part of the Thai way of life. The Museum of Floral Culture also exhibits important floral cultures from civilizations across Asia such as India, China, Japan, Laos, and Bali in Indonesia. In the exhibits, we employ photographs, artifacts, tools and equipments—used in the creation of floral arts—along with fresh flowers to tell the stories. We would not want to be misleading, but please kindly note not to expect extravagant floral displays as you would see in a flower show. The Museum of Floral Culture is located in the quiet residential area of Dusit District. Built in the reign of King Rama VI, The Museum of Floral Culture is a beautifully preserved 100-year-old teak mansion of colonial architecture, covering the total ground of 1,800 square meters of an impeccably-landscaped Thai-meets-Zen-style garden. There's a little tea shop as part of the museum, and you will definitely want to stop in for a pot of tea and Asian sweets after your tour.

I first visited the Museum of Floral Culture when it wasn't fully opened to the public yet but that night, I attended a cocktail reception hosted by a European embassy in Bangkok. It was a delight to see a beautiful Thai traditional house with a huge garden full of flowers and plants - indeed a feast for your tired eyes.

The second time that I visited it, I was amazed at how the interior of the house was transformed into a floral museum, detailing the history of Thai floral culture.

I learned from the owner that apart from learning the history of Thai floral culture, interested persons can also learn how to do floral arrangements for an affordable fee.

Your eyes will not only feast on the beautiful flower creations but your stomach will also be satisfied with a variety of Asian snacks as well as fruit and herbal teas as they have a coffee/tea corner.

The Museum of Floral Culture is a newly opened museum in Bangkok. It exhibits Thai floral culture as well as other floral cultures from Asian countries. The museum occupies a beautiful Thai traditional wooden house in Dusit area. It also has a beautiful garden with many unique species of tropical plants and flowers. The museum can be accessed by Chaophraya public boat exiting at Payap Pier and then connecting with motorcycle taxi or tuk tuk to the museum.
