“Zeta buffet”
Reviewed May 13, 2013

Disappointed with buffet Sunday 12/5 at zeta restaurant. No oysters as advertised, rock lobster smallest and driest ever, poor selection of wines with red winne chilled even though air conditioned restaurant. Staff attentive, clean but not as good as holiday in silos. Amazes to see lamb from sushi bar in smallest portion ever experienced

Stayed at this hotel for a short weekend in Bangkok and chose it because of the location and the opening special that they had, which included breakfast and wifi. The hotel was very easy to find, right on the corner of Sukhumvit Rd and Soi 22, was more convenient to get to than other hotels I've stayed in located in Pratunam or Silom. It is about halfway between the Emporium and Terminal 21, although walking to either of these in the midday sun can get pretty hot.

The lobby is located on the 9th floor and has a small bar area. Everything is very new and has a pleasant design to it. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, we arrived quite early (10am) and there was no problem with us checking in to the rooms at that time. In particular the lady that served us (Ae) was very helpful and professional.

The rooms themselves are quite small, but well designed and equipped. They are obviously not furnished to the same level as the 5 star hotels, but very comfortable enough for a good nights sleep. Plenty of power outlets with built in adaptors were available, and the wifi was fast and reliable. The bathrooms were a good size and had a large walk in shower with a choice of rain shower or normal one. Standard range of Holiday Inn toiletries were provided.

The breakfast was in the 8th floor, also where the pool is located. This is all very nicely designed although I didn't get the chance to go swimming. The breakfast itself was very good, good selection of food from Thai through to Western, including a Thai soup/congee station and omelette/egg station (which were cooked great). Small selection of breads and pastries but these were very nice. Also a good selection of juices, fruit, salads, cold meats and hot breakfast buffet items such as sausages, bacon, tomatoes etc.

Overall I had an excellent experience at this hotel, the most important aspect was the staff there, all of them were helpful, friendly and enthusiastic.

My husband and I went for the dinner buffet last night, it is 499 baht ++ but it was well worth it. The food is fresh and the restaurant and kitchens clean and service is wonderful. There was fresh meat on skewer's and BBQ'd as requested, fresh pasta cooked upon your request, fresh seafood, sushi, Indian food, thai food, salads, soups, beautiful desserts, even an ice cream dispenser! Tea and coffee also included. It's really easy to get to, right beside phrong Pong BTS, definitely a must if you are staying in Bangkok. Prannie is one of the team leaders in the restaurant and she is an asset to the hotel.

The newly opened Holiday Inn on Sukhumvit Soi 22 is really more Holiday Inn Express than Holiday Inn.
Even so it is in a very good location and the special offer for it's opening period made it very acceptable.
It has no Business Centre and no executive lounge which will make it less acceptable for business people.
For people on holiday it will be very good, location being everything.
Rooms, as you would expect in a newly opened hotel are very good.
Good restaurant for breakfast and open throughout the day, a 2nd top floor restaurant was not yet open.
Some teething problems with lifts and electronics still need ironing out.
The big issue will be it's pricing policy once the introduction period is over.
Overall good first impression.

I think the hotel was just a month old when I stayed. I was there for just one night and really spent most of my time in the room working although I did have room service dinner (can recommend the Angus Burger) and breakfast the next morning in the main hotel restaurant. The rooms are excellent. Brilliant for working with a nice big desk and really comfortable office quality chair. Shower was excellent too with over head rain shower and really high pressure hot water. Like all the "new" Holiday Inn's the bed was very comfy and the choice of hard and soft pillows is brilliant.

The thing that really impressed me though, especially for such a new hotel was how fantastic the staff were. You could excuse them for being a "bit green" being a new hotel but you could tell they have been very well trained and are really engaged with the customer at every turn. From the moment I arrived at the lobby level and was escorted right up to (and introduced to by name) the reception staff through to the room service staff and restaurant staff the next morning they really were brilliant. Nothing was a problem. I had a sore throat and before I could ask hot water with lemon and ginger was at my table! these little things really make a difference when you are travelling a lot. The restaurant manager at breakfast (cannot remember his name sorry) even asked me how my room service dinner was the previous night, knowing exactly what I ordered!

They also have a very nice looking pool and relaxing deck outside the restaurant and a modern looking gym which given a longer stay I would have quite happily used.

Overall a very good stay, made better by brilliant staff.

Room Tip: I had an executive room which was very nice and given the opening special is still on is really grea...

We booked this hotel at very short notice, we live very near and following a burst water pipe at home we needed somewhere to stay for a couple of nights.

We so quickly after booking that the reservation hadn't made it onto the system by the time we arrived, that didn't phase the staff who treated my partner and I efficiently and with the utmost courtesy.

Our room on the 12th floor was a corner room was tastfully furnished and very comfortable.

Our package included breakfast which was an excellent buffet and the staff on duty were a credit to the hotel, nothing was too much trouble.

We decided to relax by the pool, very nice pool and plenty of comfortable seating, I would say that I think the pool area whilst very nice could do with some umbrellas, it was so hot that we had to go back inside, this was a shame.

The hotel is in a great position with plenty of little restaurants and bars in the local sois, and for those that like to shop the Emporium and Terminal 21 Shopping Centres are both a few minutes walk away, as are the BTS and MRT train stations.

All in all a great addition to the Sukhumvit hotel scene.

I do have one comment and this may be typical of many hotels in the vicinity, I am European and my partner is Thai, we have lived in the area for many years. When I walked into the hotel I did so unchallenged, when my partner walked in alone or even with me she was challenged, albeit politely, and had to convince the staff that she was resident. I found this as embarrassing as she did humiliating.

Holiday Inn helped us out with a night here as we had not booked. What a pleasant surprise! Great suite, nice buffet and awesome rooftop pool area. Manager Harry was hands on and welcoming, they couldn't do enough for us. Hotel is reasonably priced and close to the sky train, a great option for a stay in Bangkok.
