If you look at Wat Pathum from bts sky train, you would see the green shade by big trees cover all around this temple.
I highly suggest a visit to the Wat and especially a walk in the garden area, it is an amazing contrast to the hustle and bustle found on the streets just outside.
Wat Pathum Wanaram was founded by King Rama IV as a place for worship. Pathum means lotus because there used the be a large lotus pond next to the temple.
If you are lucky to visit Wat Pathum on Songkarn Day and Buddhist holy days i.e. Asanha Bucha Day or Visakha Bucha Day, you can make merit by engaging in various activities e.x.
to walk with lighted candles in hand around a temple(vientien), making sand pagodas, and sprinkle Thai traditional perfume water onto a Buddha image.
