I stayed for 2 nights in November, the hotel had only been open for 5 days at this time so was still getting everything sorted out.

Check in was fine, very attentive with good service, and bags were sent up to the room promptly, but it was here that some of the teething problems manifested themselves. There was only one elevator in use, so with about 40 stories there could be long waits, but will probably be OK once the second elevator is in operation. Also the pool area was not open yet so I was unable check this out.

The room was one of the Ocean theme rooms on the 18th floor and whilst not particularly large, (it would be a little difficult if you has two large suitcases in the room as there is not much free floor space) was nicely done and had a very comfortable bed, and a nice shower with plenty of hot water.

It was obvious that there were issues with housekeeping as I found that there was no soap, shampoo or any other amenities in the room, reception apologized for this but did nothing to get the situation rectified, so I had to go out to a nearby 7-11 and buy soap, shampoo etc for the room. The next day housekeeping rang the doorbell to make up the room just as I was leaving the room at around 1:00pm and waited outside as I left the room, but inexplicably when I returned at around 6:00pm (I was checking out at 9:00pm) the room was untouched, not cleaned, bed not made, no towels etc. It was not worth making a fuss as I was leaving in a couple of hours but reinforces the fact that there are issues with the housekeeping department at the moment.

Breakfast was very nice in the 35th floor restaurant but I suspect that there may be wait for tables when the hotel is full as it is not particularly large. I also ate in the restaurant on my last evening and had a very nice meal with excellent service whilst looking out over Bangkok although I was the only customer at the time, and the kitchen were nice enough to send me out a complimentary dessert.

Overall this should be a nice boutique hotel once the teething problems are rectified, there may well be issues with Taxis finding the place until it becomes better known as the building itself is tucked back from the road behind other buildings with only the driveway really being visible from the road, I know Bangkok quite well and knew where the hotel was so was able to direct the taxi driver, but for anyone who does not it would be worthwhile noting the hotels telephone number so that the taxi driver can call for directions if required. The building has a small foootprint (only about 7 rooms on my floor) but is very tall at about 40 stories. It is well placed for the Skytrain and Underground both being only a couple of minutes walk and should be a success, provided they can maintain competitive room rates as this segment of the Bangkok hotel market is very competitive. I will be booking again for next March and will be interested to see how the hotel operates once it has ironed out the teething problems.

I came here with my wife and two friends for dinner. It was the 4th day after the hotel's soft-opening on 10-11-12. Yep, The Continent Hotel Bangkok is as special as its soft-opening date. And so was Medinii, the Italian restaurant on Level 35, where we ordered vegetarian off-menu.

Restaurant's ambience was elegantly designed in monochrome palette. Movable feature panels can be adjusted to break down the dining space and provide privacy for guests at each dining table. The oversized leather dining chairs were comfortable and before we knew it, we breezed through a 2.5 hours' long dinner. Subdued lighting and flickering oil lamps lent a romantic atmosphere.

Various seating options are available, from normal dining chairs to high chairs and even benches on swings. Tall floor-to-ceiling glass window panels provide panoramic night views of downtown Sukhumvit, with clusters of building lights and streams of car lights illuminating the night's darkness.

Although vegetarian, our dinner was Italian inspired. Two salads were served, each with different sauces that presented the crisp salad greens differently. This was followed by 2 selections of pastas, again showcasing different flavors. A potato soup flavored with truffle oil came next and this was served nicely hot. We helped ourselves to a pizza and finished off our dinner with creme brûlée as dessert. Food portions were "just nice" and flavours were well executed. Dinner was accompanied with a bottle of red wine recommended by EAM Mathieu.

Restaurant manager K. Man and service staff were pleasant and set the dinner pace as we chatted, laughed and enjoyed our evening.

We shared Medinii with other tables of hotel guests. Just 4 days into operations, Medinii is on the right track. When we left and shared the lift down with a couple, they remarked they had a nice dinner and so did we.

The check in was fast and rooms we nicely decorated. Although it is not near to all attractions we felt the location of the hotel is very good and we could reach all our destinations easily. Rooms, cleanliness and staff were good too. So we can really recommend it if you are looking for a convenient hotel at a good price.

location wise not bad at all. Just a bit off the main road. The Tuktuk pick/drop service solves that problem. Club house and swimming pool are very serenely enclosed. Room size is liberal and feels like a suite. No regret for the price. Lobby does not give a 5 star hotel feel, but the rooms will reflect the perfection.
