Thatien Village hotel is a very nice place well located in historical city (but far from BTS and MRT). Quiet place, very nice and big rooms with terrace , near the river at Tha tien

Great location opposite Wat Pho with good cold herb teas, selection of coffees, ice-cream and some Thai dishes. Free WiFi and cheap prices.
Hotel is located next to Wat Pho and few minutes walking to the Grand Pałace and boat pier. Rooms are nice and clean, with comfy bed. Wifi works well. Staff is nice and helpful. The only cons are that the area is lively until the closing of the temple-after that all eateries etc are closed so you need to think about your dinner ahead;) also, because of main tourist attractions proximity, it may get hard (but not impossible) to catch a taxi with driver willing to use a taxometer... Anyway, hotel itself is great!
The warm welcome I received on checking in was maintained throughout, whether in reception, from the cleaning staff or the cafe associated with the hotel. The room was large, clean and well-equipped (excepting coffee making facilities) making for a very comfortable & thoroughly enjoyable stay at a very reasonable rate.
In the cafe they serve up a simple but well-cooked food and superb coffee in a very friendly and personable manner. The proximity of The Grand Palace, Wat Pho and the Chao Phraya Express Boat make it the perfect location for sightseeing, while it's a quick & cheap tuk-tuk ride away from the nightlife of Khaosan and (preferably) Rambutri
The hotel is very close to many historic places. Grand Palace and Wat Pho Temple are in walking distance. The cafe downstair serves a tasting food with reasonable price. At night, you can walk to the flower market to experience Thai local life.
We haven't stayed at the hotel, but we did stop by for a very welcome cold drink and ice cream, both delicious. The staff there are very friendly and were happy to chat to us about this historic area of Bangkok. The location is across the street from Wat Pho and within a 15 minute walk to the Grand Palace.
