“Authentic introduction to Thai cuisine”

We did the ´Thonburi food & art walk tour´ during our 3 days visit to Bangkok in January 2013 and had a great time! We’ve seen areas of Bangkok you wouldn´t find on your own or with a standard travel guide. We walked through the historical Thonburi neighborhood, stopped at almost every food stall and tried lots of different Thai specialties. Delicious! We had lunch at a nice riverside restaurant, visited traditional markets, a village of bronze-smiths and we ended our tour in a canal-side artist village... unfortunately we missed the puppets show, but the artist village was nonetheless very worth visiting. It was a day-filling program, but we did it all at a relaxed pace and Chin gave us the impression that it´s all about what we want to see, try and do, which was really nice.
The Chili paste tour is definitely something I recommend to everybody who wants get an authentic insight in Thai cuisine, and who wants to see more than just the typical tourist sights. Next time, we wanna try one of Chin's cooking classes.

“above and beyond our expectations”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 13, 2013

My husband and had a cooking class and homestay on New Years Eve with Chili Paste, and it was incredible. We chose Chili Paste because of the location, a green oasis in the hustle and bustle of Bangkok, as well as a focus on local and organic ingredients for the cooking class. We were collected from our hotel the morning of our homestay and driven to the 110 year old teak house where gigantic bowls of exotic fruits, a chilled bale fruit drink, and sliced mango with sweet sticky rice awaited. The cooking class was excellent, flavorful, and spicy! After the class we took a trip to the owners favorite local markets where we stuffed ourselves at just about every vendor stall, bought palm sugars, curries, butter cakes and more - yum! Our room was large and pretty, with fresh flowers and more bowls of fruit for our enjoyment. Banana trees hung within arms reach of the dining table, and tamarind trees shaded the front entrance. A lovely introduction to Thailand, the locals, and flavors of the city. We cannot recommend this company enough! Thank you Chin & Dave, we loved every minute of our stay with you!

“Charming tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 6, 2013

We've been to BKK a few times before and was looking for something off-the-beaten-path. It was a pleasure to have discovered Chin and Dave on Tripadvisor. We went to the weekend food market and artist village tour. We saw very few foreign tourists along the way. Chin and Dave are laid-back, flexible, and charming. The tour felt like being shown around parts of town by a couple of local friends instead of being on a commercial organized tour.

“Great, unique experience”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed November 13, 2012

In late June, I did a one-day tour with the owners of Chili Paste Thai Food and Culture. We started off the morning at the Bang Nam Phueng floating market just south of Bangkok. It was really packed with locals, and there was wonderful food to taste, ranging from delicious boat noodles to savory sweets and candies. All of it was an adventure and something new to try! After all of this eating, we needed some exercise, so we headed off on a bike ride in the area of Phra Phradaeng. The area was built over the water and so we biked through a network of raised platforms that wound around the neighborhoods. It was a great way to see a new (and often unexplored!) part of the city and also to feel close to nature - something that is unusual to do in Bangkok! Overall, it was a great experience and Dave and Chin were wonderful tour guides - they were always happy to accomodate and they were very knowledgeable about the area and the cultural history. If you are seeking a unique experience off the beaten path and want to truly experience the hidden parts of Bangkok, you will love spending time with this tour company!
