Would definitely stay again!! Stayed twice and were very pleased. Good tuck tuck service to local sights. Staff were helpful in providing recommendations. Very quiet.
Bangkok was busy, but Tara was a good respite.

The place had just opened in October. We were 8 people and were settled in quickly. Excellent location easy to walk to all the tourist spots eg. The Grand Palace or a short taxi drive although I read a review that said they offered a free ride to the Grand Palace. This place was clean even the stairwells and the stairwells were open, they did have an elevator which is hard to find in some of the smaller places. I ended up getting sick in Bangkok by drinking the water at the Grand Palace (make sure you bring plenty of bottled water). We were leaving the next day so I asked if I could stay in the room longer a couple of hours since I was still sick and our plane wasn't leaving until later that afternoon they most graciously allowed me. The restaurant on the corner is good.

Room tip: We were 8 people and all our rooms were good. It is in a quiet area of town.

Great location, 10 minutes from Khao San road, the bacpacker's heaven, and close to the river where you can get boat transportation anywhere downriver (Wat Arun, Grand Palace, Wat Pho...). It's not close to the excellent mass transportation system (trains and subways), but taxi is cheap and the staff stopped one for us, every time we need it, making sure the trip would be charged by the meter, and avoiding the frequent scams with taxi and tuk tuk drivers on the main touristic zones. Very clean, modern and well decorated, it's the best place we stayed in all our trip through Thailand and Laos.
There's no breakfast in the hotel, but there's a good bakery on the way to Khao San road, some 400m from Tara's, on the same side of the street, called Konchipan. 200m further, on the left side you'll find a Starbucks, near Khao San, and around there, many places where you can find good options for food and drink.
I would stay here again, with no doubt. Much, much better than the previous stay in Rambuttri Plaza

All in all not a bad hotel, but the rooms are basic but clean, we left 500bhat deposit . Which they kept for 2 towels as there was a faint colour of red on them of which they said it was off my hair(my hair is almost black), I tried to explain this but they just bagged the towels up and gave me them to take. And would not listen, the people were VERY unprofessional behind reception and laughing at us disagreeing, then to top it all ,ordered us a taxi and spoke before we did he wanted to charge us extra than what we had been paying, all in all this totally ruined our view of bangkok, it's like once they have your money they treat you like everyone else does in bangkok.

Stayed 3 nights and for the price it's really a great deal: very clean, very friendly staff, they even have their own Tuk Tuk that every two hours brings you for free to the Grand Palace. 10 minutes away from Khao San Rd.

Room tip: Definitely worth it to stay!

We arrived at Tara Place Hotel after a lengthy and troublesome journey at around 1 am. Even at this time of night, the staff were so helpful and amazing! They have complimentary computers with hi-speed wifi, tea, and snacks in the lobby, and free water in the rooms. The hotel just opened up in Sept or Oct, so it's very nice, clean and new. It's only about a 10 minute walk to Khao San Road, so we were able to see and do a lot, but still get a good nights sleep of peace and quiet. The best part is the staff though. It's family run and you often interact with the mother, son and daughter all in one day sometimes. This place felt like home and was a great escape from all the travel agents and tuk tuk drivers and everyone else who is constantly trying to sell you something, bother you and scam you. It was very relaxing, they answered all of our questions and never tried to sell us anything. I can't say the same for the Travel Agency right beside them though, don't use that place!
