Steve Cafe and Cuisine is a long-established Thai restaurant overlooking the Chao Phaya River, just above Rama VIII Bridge.

It is furnished retro style, with many old photographs of famous visitors to the restaurant and family members.

The menu is extensive and while it is mainly Thai, it does venture into fusion and western cuisine, as per the peppery ostrich sausage served with mustard and sauerkraut.

On of my favourites was deep fried baby crabs, so crispy they were eaten, shells and all.

Four of us went there for lunch and enjoyed it so much, 10 of us went back for dinner that same night.

A story of too high expectations based on TripAdvisor reports. I understand others may find this tidy restaurant excellent but for me everything was just average. Seeing it from the ferry terminal is easy yet getting to it is an adventure. Other reports give excellent directions. I get and respect the no shoes policy and it is their place so no problem. We went for lunch and enjoyed the view of the river. However, the food was fair to middling but not particularly exciting. The prices similar to other similar places. The service was well - average. If you don't have high expectations you'll love it.

Excellent service and the shrimp are plump and prepared in many different excellent ways. Be sure to make a reservation if you choose to arrive after 6pm. Excellent service. Nice waterside view.

Went there alone for lunch, did not make reservations, but lucky to have a table without waiting. So advice is to make reservations!
Food is authentic Thais and the very good menu card shows all the dishes with clear pictures, well done!
As hot as Bangkok can be there is always a nice breeze near the river.
Locals and tourists love this restaurant and that is certainly for a good reason.
Highly recommend it!
Tip: use Google maps to find it!

Land here in the evening, though you might find it quite busy, but that's the best time to enjoy the place, the food and music right up your alley next to the Chao Phraya River. The cafe is very clean, given their rule that shoes be removed before entering with a witty notice. Their menu has a wide selection of food and drinks, including my personal favorite beer - Asahi. Vintage framed pictures, vintage fans, wall decor and dangling lights adorn the cafe. The place shuts down at 11 pm and they take their last order at around 10:30, so be sure that you reach a good 2-3 hours earlier to enjoy your evening. Good place for couples.
