“The best city hotel I've stayed in!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed October 14, 2013

This is by far one of the best hotels I have stayed in, certainly the best city hotel. I was attracted by the fact it was brand new, contemporary design and the rooms offered were on a special opening rate of 50% off as the spa and another restaurant are not finished yet.

We did 3 nights here and it was a big contribution to the great time we had in Bangkok. After a long journey, my friends and I were overwhelmed and excited as to how chic and well designed the hotel was. We had 2 rooms, one with twin beds the other with a super king, both on the 25th floor with just amazing views, we were so happy when we saw our rooms! The bathrooms were big with separate walk in shower and free-standing bath with that amazing view once again. Beds incredibly comfortable, very big and with great pillows. All the extras you would expect from this kind of hotel-toiletries including shower gel, shampoo and conditioner, shower hat, shaving kit, tooth brush, vanity set, comb etc. Robe and slippers, umbrella. Air con and mood lighting. i really loved getting ready for a night out in this room, starting off with a bath overlooking the city.

The roof top pool is fab with bar stools and sunbeds in shallow sections of the pool. Round sunbeds and chilled music. When the hotel is busy I think people will struggle to get a sunbed as there are not many but it wasn’t an issue for us as the hotel wasn’t full.

Breakfast was good but a bit overpriced so we only had it once. There is a coffee shop on the ground floor which did croissants etc and better priced. Dinner was also good and the service throughout was excellent. Concierge and restaurant staff were very helpful and really friendly. After we ate in the restaurant on the first night, the manager then slid open a huge wooden door to reveal the Theatre Bar with its multi-coloured floor lights and a DJ that plays a few nights a week. Cocktails in here were 100 baht during happy hour and were really good. The spicy chili nuts were hot hot hot!! The bar was pretty empty but we went in here for drinks each night as really liked the environment.

Hotel is a brilliant location, right outside to the Sky Train BTS stop although no noise when sleeping. Its easy to get to from the airport and the Skytrain worked out to be about 35 baht per trip! Hotel is just a few stops away from the Siam paragon shopping Mall and it was also less than 100 baht in a taxi back from the temples, about 20 mins drive away or a boat ride with the nearest port being 10 mins walk away. It’s a short Tuk Tuk ride away to the Lebua for Sirocca Sky Bar wher you will pay £10 a drink, but the view is worth it. The bar was not too crowded as i had previously heard. Opposite Mode Sathorn is the Blue Elephant Restaurant offering Royal Thai Cuisine. Id really recommend this restaurant- they accommodated us without prior booking (although I would book if you can) and the food was really good and not terribly priced compared to fine dining in the UK and for the standard of food and service-£120 for 4 people for cocktails, wine, starter and mains.

I’d definitely want to stay in this hotel next time I visit Bangkok but I’m sure the rates will go up very soon. We paid £160 for 4 nights, you wouldn’t get the same class of hotel for even one night at that price in the UK! It would be great if the rates stayed this low please!!!

We stay 1 night at Mode Sathorn Hotel (last day in our Bangkok trip). In order to relax before ending our holiday, we didn't plan any activity for the last day. So, we just hanging around in the hotel. We choose this hotel based on the good review in trip advisor, modern look of the hotel and the Soft Opening Deal. Since it's a new hotel, the taxi driver don't know this hotel but it doesn't matter at all because we just ask him to stop at the Surasak BTS station (in front of hotel).
Upon our arrival, the security guard and bell boy quickly help us to take our luggage. The check in process is a fast and smooth. The hotel lobby desk is different from the conventional hotel. Guest and hotel staff are sitting at a same table during the check in. It gives us a closer and friendlier feeling.
Before our arrival, I had email the hotel to request for an Urban Stylish room, non-smoking, high floor and possibly with city view. Although the room is not booked under my name but they promise to arrange it. Finally, all our requests are fulfilled. Another special thing is that we can redeem our welcome drink in some of the bar/restaurant in the hotel, anytime before we check out. Good!
After that, an efficient staff sent us to the room and briefly describe all the facilities available in the hotel as well as the room. Our room at 27th floor is not too big in size (30+ sqm) but it's really a chic modern, luxury and comfortable room. We had 2 Queen Size bed in our room, Samsung LED TV, full mini bar, a separate toilet and the bath room. The room lighting is a bit dark but after the staff open the automated curtain, the natural lighting glows up the room and it comes with the downtown view of Bangkok!
I do read some request saying that some of the room in Mode Sathorn Hotel has transparent toilet and bathroom. It might cause some privacy problem to some guests. But the Urban Stylish room doesn't have this problem because its toilet is covered by a wooden door and its bathroom is closed up by a dressing mirror door. The bathroom size is a spacious one. I have a wonderful experience by bathing in the standalone bath tub with BKK view. Besides, I do use the standing rain shower to bath too. The water pressure is strong enough. A complete toiletries, bathrobe and thick towers are provided. Bed and pillow are comfortable, air-cond are cold enough. There is a plug just beside my bed for me to charge my phone. It's really a 5* experience although this is a 4* hotel.
We went to the Theater Bar to redeem the welcome drinks. Local Beer and juices are free of charges but cocktail are charged at half price. My friend ordered a local beer and I ordered a cocktail - Blue Affair (cost 170 baht after tax). The bar is not very happening that day but the lightning and deco are very nice and trendy.
In the 2nd day, we had our breakfast at The Sathorn restaurant. We were welcomed with a big smile and offer to choose either tea or coffee by the staff. It's an American style buffet breakfast with beacon, ham, egg, various cheese, fruits, spaghetti, various breads, jams, juice, noodle, fried rice, cereals and a few dishes. However, it's lack of their local dishes. Special thanks for the staff at egg counter who willing to prepare an Egg Benedict for me, other than the normal sunny side up, scrambled egg and omelet. All of the staff that I met in the hotel are friendly, attentive and polite. Great service!
Moreover, we do went to the gym room and swimming pool at 11th floor. There is a spa but seems not in service yet. The gym room is quite small in size. However, the infinity pool offers a very great view of the city. Imagine you soak your body in the water with your lover or friends and sipping a glass of cocktail while enjoying the magnificent view of Bangkok. The pool is attached with a pool bar and 8 Jacuzzi sleeping deck. The Jacuzzi water are strong enough to massage my body well. Towel are given once we finish our swim. There is a garden with day bed just beside the pool area too.
There are a few improvements that I would like to suggest to the hotel.
- Increase the brightness of the light in the room.
- Increase the number of local Thai delicacy in breakfast buffet.
- The aircond control located near the entrance of the room is a bit inconvenient when guest wish to change the speed or temperature. Possibly add another control or remote control near to the bed.
The overall experience staying in Mode Sathorn Hotel is very enjoying, relaxing and comfortable. We look forward to stay here again during our next Bangkok trip.

Room Tip: Get an Urban Stylish Room if you want more privacy for bathroom & toilet. High floor for better...

This place has a really awesome pool. The most awesome pool I have ever been to in my life. Jets everywhere, and a bar. and an awesome view from the 11th floor. However, the room has glass walls and door surrounding the entire toilet area, such that you could see whoever is on the toilet from the bathtub or the sink area. This is a horrid idea. The shower is nice, however, and the place is new (though already showing signs of poor workmanship such as chipped walls and rust on the metal at the pool). During the soft opening, this is a great value for the price. If the prices go up, I would probably opt for another place. We stayed here for half what our friends did at similar hotels. The staff was not very efficient, failing to do things like deliver an iron, and basically don't speak English well (which they cannot be blamed for). Checkin also took a very long time. But, they are all very gracious and nice. Bed was awesome.

Room Tip: Ask for a room without glass toilet area

Were lucky enough to get an upgrade to a suite… absolutely blown away by the room, the view and the hotel. It’s quite new and I got a special into rate which meant it was a bargain. The staff were helpful, friendly and professional. The suite was beautiful and very modern. It’s a bit out of the way but the Sky Train is handy to get about so it’s a good base. There are some shops and restaurants about ten minutes away which is fine there’s not a huge amount directly around the hotel which is great if you want to avoid some of the seedier surroundings of Bangkok.

Taxi’s also had real trouble finding the place, so make sure you bring the little card they give you to on check in when you venture out.

Wifi was good. The theatre bar was incredible, pricey but a lovely experience. Best hotel we stayed in Bangkok no contest.

Couple of negatives. It was very much design over function. No plug sockets on the bedside tables to charge your phone. One main bedside light switch, so if your bedfellow will need to visit the loo in the dark. The audio from the tv was piped into the bathroom so you couldn't really chillax if someone was watching tv in the other room.

Sleep quality was unbelievable, the bed's were so comfy and the blackout blinds meant I massively overslept!!

Highly recommend this place though, especially if you get a good deal.

I stayed at Mode Sathorn for three nights at the soft opening price and could not have been more pleased with the room. Beautifully appointed, giant bed (it was a king), hot pink, white, grey interior color scheme. Amazing view of bangkok from literally anywhere in the room (including the shower and bathtub- this was somewhat disconcerting, as there was an apartment building nearby and i'm pretty sure if any residents of that building happened to be out on their balcony, they could watch people showering... fortunately there was a window shade). i spent a lot of time lounging in the hotel room because it was just that comfortable. the BTS station was steps from the lobby, and it was easy to get anywhere. some street food vendors could be found along the street outside (and across the street, over the BTS overpass). the gym was exceptional, as was the pool.

i did not give the hotel five stars only because there were so few options for eating/entertainment in the immediate area. blue elephant, a fancy (overpriced) thai restaurant was across the street, but reservations were not easy to get. the sathorn area seemed alternately high end residential and business oriented, so it wasn't as much fun to explore as i would have liked. i ordered room service a couple of times when it was raining heavily at night and i couldn't be bothered to leave the hotel to find dinner.

in all, i loved it, and would return (at the soft opening price) for a weekend away with my partner.

Stayed for one night with wife and 2 kids. Were upgraded on arrival. Hotel has a very modern look to it. Right from the reception to the rooms. Though i would definitely like more lighting, i mean more bright lighting. Everyone at the reception were warm and helpful. We were made to feel like that we are really welcomed there. (something we didn't get in pattaya). Location is gr8. Right in front of the hotel we have a BTS, and is well connected. Also the reception guys get you a taxi in no time, for no additional fare. We get normal metered taxi rates itself. Breakfast was too american, but definitely grand. The spread was good. Would certainly like more thai dishes in the breakfast. We had gr8 room, in the 23rd floor, with nice view of the city skyline. Only thing i didn't like was, the room was too modern that it lacked utility a little. Though a little on the expensive side, it was still worth it.

We are newlywed, so we planned to have a beautiful escape for only 3days before back to work. Then we choose bangkok, because its not quite far from singapore, we dont have enough preparation, we booked the hotel very last minute and we found mode sathorn hotel at agoda, and then we just booked.

Because the hotel is very new, so our taxi driver not so familiarvwith the hotel address. But when we arrived we are amazed with the lobby, its so unique, the reception desk, the sofa, the uniform staff is so young and fresh with excellent service. The inside design of the elevator was cool also. When we entering the room, i was just love it. Its not so big, but its very comfortable, the bed, the bathroom i just love it.

The location is strategic, its at the front of BTS station. So u can go anywhere u like without long walk to the BTS, and there's a street food also around the hotel.
