“Great view at night”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

It is great to climb the steps during the day for sure. Make sure you take something to cover your legs and shoulders. They rent to you here if you don't and take a deposit. BUT, take a look at it at night as well. It is lovely. And maybe you will time it just right with the monks chanting and a rain shower . .. magical!!!

“Great views of city”
Reviewed September 18, 2013

Take your courage in both hands and climb the steep steps to the top level - the view of the city skyline across the river is worth it.

“Exhilarating climb”
Reviewed September 17, 2013

By far the steepest set of stairs (verging on ladder) I had ever climbed. Upon reaching the top, we were rewarded with magnificent views of the city, but the real thrill was in the descent! If you have a fear of heights, prepare to confront it, or you'll be stranded atop this soaring temple for quite some time. We finally chose a backwards, one-foot-at-a-time retreat, gripping railings for dear life. Ok, it wasn't quite that bad, but it sure felt great to feel both feet on solid ground again. Worth the trip across the river for the close-up view of the intricately carved architecture, the view from the top, and the rush of adrenaline scaling the structure. Definitely our favorite wat in Bangkok.

“Perfect Spot to Watch the Sunset”
Reviewed September 16, 2013

Wat Arun is one of the best places to watch the sunset (along the chao phraya river and the bangkok flyer for me). It's amazing to see the colors of the temple get more vibrant as the sun sets in the backdrop. You can easily reach it by crossing the river from Wat Pho by ferry which should not cost you more than a few baht. It's the perfect place to end a temple hopping day.
