The temple of Golden Buddha is interesting and exotic. The statue, the architecture and the views are worth it. Plus you don't need to spend too much time here, can visit this place in 30-40 minutes, so take a chance!

Nice Temple and Buddha but we were tired after visiting the Grand Palace and the Reclining Buddha in one day.

While the temple and the Buddha itself are interesting I really enjoyed hearing the history of the Buddha statue. Make sure you ask about it when you go.

Fun history fact: the Buddha was originally covered up in layers of clay/cement during an invasion on its original temple to avoid being stolen by criminals and wasn't rediscovered to be golden until several years ago when the Buddha was being moved to its new temple. It was accidentally dropped and the outer cast cracked open to reveal the golden making.

As it is a running temple, many locals visit to pray and provide their offerings in front of the golden Buddha so its important to be considerate. Was kind of a spiritual experience sitting in silence admiring the golden Buddha and watching the locals honor their faith.

TIP: If you want to wear a tank top during your trip (which is highly advised to beat the heat) but plan to visit temples and holy sites always bring a sarong (bottom) and a cardigan (top) for instant cover-up. Better to wear sandals so taking your footwear off at certain cites isn't inconvenient.
