With limited time in BKK, it didn't too sit well that the Military decided to pay their respects and had the Temple closed off to the public for the afternoon.
Check to see whether you can visit the Temple before you buy your tickets.

Gorgeous and very impressive. Really impressed by the gold stupas and surroundings. Very ornate and breath taking. Not to be missed. Went by water...a real treat,

This is absolutely beautiful but prepare to be barged.. The buddah itself is rather small but it is spectacular! Well worth seeing!

When first arriving, beware of scams - some man will tell you that it's not open at the moment except for tour groups and will offer you a tuk-tuk tour which takes about 2 hours. Don't listen to him and just proceed. Once you've waited long enough and got your ticket, you're practically in - you just need to get through the mass of people in front first...

The temple complex itself is pretty big. It glitters, it's golden and it's fancy. All the colors can be blinding in bright sunlight - it's simply mesmerizing.

However, be sure to bring some water, especially on a hot day. They do have some vendors inside, but their prices are generally pretty touristy.

This is the Highlight of Thai sacred art. Take you time and admire the paintings depicting Scenes from the Ramayana. I just dislike that the entrance fee for non Thai visitors has been doubled within the last two years. It´s now the same amout that you also pay in Europe.
