The Reclining Buddha is a must see if you are in Bangkok. The size of this monument is amazing. We came to the temple with a tour guide (Tours with Tong) He explained to us the meaning of the Buddha statue and also had us drop coins into steel buckets as an offering to the temple and the monks who maintain it. We would not have enjoyed it as much if we didnt have the guide there with us, I strongly reccommend having a guide with you if you are not highly educated in Buddism.

This attraction is just a short walk from the Grand Palace so beware of the taxis and tuktuks who might scam you for your precious money and waste your time as well by bringing you to some jewelry and tailor shops where they get fuel commission etc. Fee is 100 baht, not bad as I am enamored looking at Buddha in its most comfortable position. :) There are some temples within the complex, massage and free bottled water. The restroom is just quite stinky. I understand considering the number of tourists coming to and fro but the management can do more to improve it.

This temple is definitely not off the beaten path, however the size of the reclining Buddha is impressive and the complex seems to go on forever with statues and multiple temples. Worth the visit while in Bangkok, but pretty much everyone else knows that too.
