I've never been to Bangkok before, but found this hotel to be very good for the price. We arrived late but reception staff very helpful. Taxi from the airport had a little trouble finding the hotel but got there in the end. The room was good as was air con and hot shower. Room service was excellent and a fare price. I thought the buffet breakfast was excellent great value for money.
Hotel was in an excellent location close to everything but quite enough to get some sleep.

I would definitely book this hotel again.............

Room Tip: Rooms at the rear are quiet but views not good.

For this standard of Hotel, you can definately find better offers in Bangkok, although Viengtai is large enough, that it is a good option if you have not reserved earlier.
I managed to make the most of an industry rate offer, so breakfast was free, although most of the time, it is included in the room rate.
Breakfast was reasonable, although not too extensive, if you are into grazing at breakfast?
The Hotel is located right next to Khao San Rd, so plenty of shopping, restaurants & bars nearby.....

Room Tip: Try to get a room at the back of the Hotel, as street side can be rather loud until late in the night.

I loved staying at Viengtai Hotel. It is one street back from Koah San Rd in a much quieter, but really lovely street. A really superb location. The breakfast was great, staff fantastic and friendly - nothing was too much trouble. I was able to check in at 9am and check out isn't until 12noon. I could also leave my bags in a secure area. There are lots of massage places, internet, food places, clothing stalls just outside. There is also a pool at the hotel. Air-con was great, bed was great, everything great. Highly recommended!

My husband and I stayed at Viengtai back in 2004 after we did some backpacking through Thailand, Viengtai was certainly a luxury hotel after backpacking.
Knwoing the hotels location and facilities we have just returned to Thailand fo a months holiday with our 6 year old twin girls, we stayed in the family room, so much space, two bathrooms, well worth the money!!
Great breakfast, location and facilites.
In relation to some comments I've seen on Viengtai , you need to know what you are booking, if you book the cheapest room of any hotel understand what you are booking.
I usually stay at 5 star hotels, but when you are travelling for long periods this isnt always possible. Viengtai isnt a 5 star hotel but it is definetly worth what you pay!

We stayed in this hotel just for one night after our exhausted flight and then stayed in cheaper guesthouses in Khao San Road. At first Viengtai Hotel seemed like a haunted house to us. We didn't meet any other guests and the corridors look just so old... A girl behind the reception was really polite, but kept a straight face the whole time, which supported our suspicions that the stuff is considered of ghosts or human-looking robots. Wifi signal was pretty good. The hotel's location is perfect and during breakfast we finally met other foreigners and started to feel like in a busy hotel.
