Review of Stable Lodge
3.0 of 5 bubblesReviewed Nov 7, 2006
Operated by an Scadinavian/Thai couple.
Quite a number of Norwegians, Swedes, Finlanders stay here.

Pros: Attentive front office. Pool.Pool deck with chairs. Restaurant. Reasonable priced daily BBQ buffet at night. Short walk to skytrain. Quiet area.

Cons: Very small and slow lift ( fits 3 persons ) but actually only 2 people can go in confortably. Shabby lobby with worn sofa, seats.
Overpriced ala carte menu in restaurant. Noisy and very old air con. Wooden floor are unpolished and worn out. Bathroom is nothing fancy. It was just functional. Old furniture in room. Small old TV. No complimentary breakfast

I paid THB 1800 per night for a room with a small patio on the 4th floor. Overpriced and not worth it !.

This hotel is a great option in the Sukhumvit area. It's smaller than most, which makes it homely. It's clean throughout, service is very friendly, and it's very quiet (Soi 8 is a dead end so there's hardly any traffic). It's a 5-minute walk to Nana station, and the top of Soi 8 has internet, a range of food outlets from Thai to international, bars, etc. The pool is very good, with relaxing seating all around. Sitting there in the evening feels genuinely serene, not a word often associated with the Nana area! You get a pleasant balcony, wooden floors, a good-size and clean bathroom, an excellent bed, and a useful information desk that will arrange travel for you. Very nice! Highly recommended.

Stable lodge is one of a kind, its located in the heart of bangkok, Sukumwit Soi (street) 8. Thats where you find everything you want and a little more. The service you should expect from this hotel should be low duo the low prices they charge you on, but i can assure you the service is great. You see, if you live in a large hotel, you dont get the same personal treatment as you get here. About the food, I just love Thai food, and stable lodge makes me love it even more, and yet again its so cheap, they also got BBQ buffet you should try out. This hotel fits everyones intrests, if you like to party you only need to walk about 50meters, and still its quiet at evenings/nights so if you dont like to party you can easily stay and relax and enjoy the silence around the hotel.
I've been to this hotel many times and i strongly recommend you to pay a visit. I am the owners son so perhaps I'll be working there some day and i'll gladly look into your intrests.

I have stayed at Stable Lodge for some times now and keep coming back. A small and well managed hotel near Nana station at soi 8, Sukhumwit road. Nice and clean rooms with wood floor, good beds and a fairly big balcony to rest on in the evening.

The hotel have a nice garden with a swimmingpool and a restaurant. A bit pricey breakfast, an extensive menu and every evening also a big BBQ well worth the price. On weekend lunches you can even have a nice danish smorgasbord.

The hotel have a good location a few minutes walk from Nana station. I have never been disturbed in the evening/nigths by noise even with a room facing the street - but with the garden between.

The staff is nice and eager to please - to a limit. Every time I have prebooked a room it have worked very well and most of the times I even got a room arriving in the morning from the airport.

I really find it a hotel to recommend in Bangkok at this price!

The rooms were generally clean, but on one occasion, we found that cockroaches were hiding behind the furniture, in areas that has obviously not been cleaned for weeks, if not longer. The staff left our luggage on a taxi that went away, and then charged us for the phone call they made to the airport to track down the taxi. The management responded to our request for a room change, after the cockroaches, no hot water, and weak Air Con, with making us move through the hotel, 2 times to different rooms with different problems. They made us move our own luggage each time, with no assistance, or regret, other than to send their security to ensure that we had not consumed the beverages in the fridge.

The location is very centrally located in the Sukhumvit area, with a great deal of services around, and the Nana skyrail station is right at the end of the street, 300 metres or so away. Quite a convinient location. The only major issues being the prices charged for the rooms, and the lack of service for guests.

although the lodge is centrally located to the skytrain and shopping, i thought for the price you could do better (try the d'am). the staff was nice but the place was noisy and a little seedy, the street its on, soi 8, a little noisy and more than seedy, unless you like bar girls. theres a construction site across the street, and they start early. i moved after the first night
