This is a very large hotel that exists out of 4 large towers. I've been here in 2008 and back again in 2012. Basically because we got the first two nights free of charge.
The rooms and the hotel have had better days. The wallpaper in our room came loose from the wall, the air-conditioning made so much noise that we had to shutdown the bedroom unit in order to sleep.
The balcony of our room could not be used because the sliding door was locked. Looking at the state of the balcony that was a good management decision. The railing had come loose from the concrete.
The carpeting throughout the hotel and the furniture also have seen better times and it is a shame that it is not better maintained. It is a beautiful hotel with a great staircase leading to a restaurant that serves a great breakfast.
The hotel is cheap and centrally located so if you plan on staying only during the nights then do not dismiss this location.
Internet access should be free but is very expensive.
The staff, with the exception of the front desk are friendly and helpful. Both in 2008 and 2012 the attitude of the front desk personnel can vary from friendly to plain rude.

Room Tip: If you stay longer than a few nights check the room before accepting. A room change is almost always...

This hotel is excellent. It is in a really good location, rooms were cleaned every day and staff were very attentive. Our bags were taken to our rooms to save us carrying them which was lucky because it was a bit of a trek to the room. We had to get a lift to the 11th floor lobby then walk ages to get another lift up to our room. The pool is great, most people only have access to the coconut bar pool and dont ever go to the darawadee pool so we were the only ones in it.

Room Tip: we had a 3 bedroom family suite which was excellent

I stayed in this hotel for 5 nights, my staying experience was not bad, however I feel that this hotel has been a little bit overrated. Okey hotel facilities were generally good, my room was big enough and reasonably clean, AC no problem, TV no problem, windows got nice views. The hotel staffs (including reception counter)were very polite and always had smile on their face, however some of them did not speak good English therefore might have little problems in communication. One big downside about this hotel is the internet: this hotel did not provide free internet, so I had to buy internet usage card from reception and they charged for every 30 mins(and price was not cheap either), for a 4-star hotel I thought this was unacceptable. Another downside is the location, the hotel's location was very inconvenient in my opinion, there was no bus/MRT/BTS stations around the place and I had to take taxi every time if I wanted to go somewhere, there was a small shopping mall under the hotel building but not much to explore, you could also find a 7-11 shop on the right direction of the main road and it would take about 2-3 mins walking. Breakfast was not bad, nothing fancy though. I did tried once the hotel restaurant, ordered blue prawn tom yum goong soup and chicken fried with cashew nut, quite nice, spent around 500 bahts, which was not cheap just like all hotel restaurants. Overall this hotel is not bad but definitely not the best around, there are always many affordable hotels in Bangkok with better locations if (and many with free internet), keep in mind that in big city like Bangkok the hotel location is always very important.

Public area ok but rooms needs big overhaul as this hotel has had the best already a long time ago. We only used it for one night and that was long enough. Morning breakfast felt like being in the zoo although choice and quality quite good. Wifi internet cost (thb300 an hour) absurd.

In the middle of nowhere, Prince Palace feels like a trip back to 80' glam aesthetics. The rooms are admittedly spacious and well kept but when my girlfriend and I were placed in a room with 2 beds and requested to be switched to a single queens sized we were met with resistance and were not swapped. This is after we were put in a smoking room and had to change from that; they told us that we had requested such a room (which we obviously did not). The restaurants attached where retardedly expensive, even for Bangkok, and the staff was obnoxious and unhelpful.

Stayed here at the start of July and could not fault the hotel at all! Its in a great location with plenty of tok toks and taxis waiting outside to take you to all of the attractions. It's around 10 in a tok tok to get to Koh San road. Great stay and will defiantly go back there again!
