“good hotel - shame about the unhelpful chap on reception”
Reviewed March 17, 2014

My husband and I stayed for 3 nights at the Royal Benja last week as a stop off on our way home from a holiday in New Zealand. We had been very happy with the hotel although we found the area a bit dodgy but handy for the Skyrail. However our stay was marred with an experience we had on Tuesday 11th March as we were leaving. We had a note in our room the previous day from the local tour company to say that a taxi would pick us up at 5.40pm on Tuesday evening to take us to the airport for our return journey to the UK. We had been waiting in the foyer since about 5pm and when no taxi had arrived by 5.50pm I asked the young man on the reception desk if he would mind phoning the number on the note for me to check that the taxi was coming. He said there were pay phones in the hotel but when I explained that we had used all our Bahts he just shrugged his shoulders and told me to go and "sit down madam" as it would probably arrive and that he would not phone. His attitude was not what I would have expected from someone in the hospitality profession especially to an older person in a foreign country. As it happened our taxi did not arrive and had it not been for the help of the doorman of the hotel, who could see that we were becoming very anxious, and his help in phoning and arranging help for us I dont know what we would have done. As it was we arrived at the airport with very little time to spare but at least we caught our plane which we would not have done if I had "just sat down" as ordered by the male on reception whose name was something like Sunya or Sinya.

The hotel is within walking distance to a BTS stop and at the heart of the city so it's easy to navigate. The room is ok and with good price, spacious and clean although a bit old. Free wifi only available at the lobby and you have to pay 300 Baht for a 24 hour wifi connection. Food are great, room service are nice and always smile, thanks. However, I have terribly bad experience in the Benjaporn Meeting Room. There's sticky chewing gum (!) on my seat cover and I sat on it without knowing. It damaged my pants and I must returned to my room to change because it was so obvious. There was no apologize from the staff when I informed it. They changed the seat cover but the damage was done.

I spent times with Royal Benja for a week. The hotel is located in down town Bangkok (must known as soi Sukumwit 5) First that's I loved Big room its because quite old hotel and clean with separately shower and bath tub. And Everyday morning maid will clean and change bed sheet(good huh?) and the last thing I loved is food.there are many tropical fruits such as papaya, pineapples, rose apple, watermelon and etc.....

Room Tip: The highest floor should be great for scenic.

A middle of the road hotel with a strong eastern feeling. Location full of atmosphere in side street but near to street markets and sky train. Views from upper rooms superb over the city. Stayed there over 12 times now and come backagain and again as an old friend

I stayed here in Dec'09 with my family. This hotel is in the middle of where the action is in bangkok. The tube station is right across the street from this hotel. The food here was good and we enjoyed our breakfast here. The room was large with a reasonable view of outside world. There was absolute pindrop silence in the corridors even though it always chaotic outside in bangkok. It sometimes did seem a bit haunted not due to any noises but due to complete lack of them.

The hotel reception was well decorated intime for christmas. There was no security locker in the room but they had some near the reception where we kept our passports and some money safe. The room had a tv with sports channel where I watched an el-classico football match. There was a kettle and a refrigerator as well.

The staff was courteous and always ready for help. I would love to go back and stay here for a few days.

Nice hotel with swimming pool. Clean rooms. Well maintained. Helpful staff. And beautiful view of city. Nearest to metro station and so to shopping areas. Beakfast was also good. The only problem with the hotel is no window opens.

In terms of location, this place is just unbeatable! Just walk out of the hotel, and you have plenty of options for shopping and trying out the famous bangkok street food. Whats more, the sky train station is a 5 min walk from here.
It indeed is an old property. Rooms are very spacious and decent. The buffet breakfast was good, not great though!
