“Good value, good location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 13, 2012

Stayed there several timrs for business or holidays. Friendly staff, great value for the money, wide variety of food at breakfast buffet (including chefs making eggs or noodles for you). Clean and comfortable rooms. 10 minutes walking distance to BTS and night markets. 10 minutes tuktuk to the temples area or Dusit.

The location on Silom Road is very good. Close to markets, BTS and the river if you walk right when you leave the hotel.
Very good selection at the breakfast.
The interior at the hotel is a bit boring, and the pool area is very small. But I think you dont you the pool very much, when you are in BKK.

We stayed here for 3 nights at first and then returned for 4 more after a break in chiang mai (passport issues so the embassy was round the corner 10 minute walk). Lobby staff were blunt, cleaners and bar staff were hospitable and helpful. Pool area is strange layout but does the job.
Rooms were clean and reasonably priced. When we returned with passport issues we went straight there from the airport via skyrail, platforms just around the corner.

This is a quite nice hotel, but it's best feature is definitely the location. Since it is placed on Silom Road youre are set straight in the middle of the action.
To the left you have one of many night markets and to the right the river from where you can cach several types of boats to almost any kind of tourist attraction you'd want to see.
Also Siam Square, MBK etc. is pretty close as well.

The hotel is clean and pretty comfortable, and the breakfast is really good.
The room we had was however, kind of depressing, with very dark colors and brown curtains - shower didn't completely work.
Staff is friendly, but didn't have that great thai friendlyness we love.

Overall an okay hotel and i would probably stay here again if in Bangkok for a few days.

As a start for our trip to Cambodia we stayed over for three nights in Bangkok and picked the Narai as our base camp. The hotel is at Silom Road, rather close to the skytrain and the waterfront (about 20 minutes walk), but taxis are plentyfull and rather unexpensive.
Recommendation: go to the waterfront by taxi and take the express boat to the King's Palace and the temples.

Friendly staff, good service, nice rooms (some recently refurbished, others somewhat outdated) and the most complete breakfast buffet I have ever seen: based on Thai kitchen, but also Chinese, Japanese, Contintental, American: whatever you would like to eat is available. We stayed as well one night for the dinner buffet and this has exactly the same features, including live cooking: good value for money! Although a rather big hotel, the service is rather personell and every floor has it's own floor manager who is available from early morning until the beginnning of the evening.

The hotel has an OK swimming pool, perhaps with a little to beds and places to relax giving the size of the hotel, but out of three times we went there it was only once a little bit crowded. Most probably the saying is true that hotel guests absolutely want a swimming pool, but (nearly?) nobody wants to swim.

Room Tip: Ask for the refurbished rooms, for instance (as per July 2012) on the 10th floor; we had also a room...

The location is great in that it's easily spotted on the road and relatively easy on a map. Right along Silom road where there are a lot of shops, spas, etc. There's a decent massage parlor across the street (cheaper than at the hotel), and there are many tailors nearby (though I won't vouch for any quality/value at those). It's a somewhat small room that is a bit outdated in terms of decor and carpet, but if your plan is to just have a place to sleep so you can explore Bangkok, this should not be an issue. It seemed clean enough anyway. The ladies clean the room with no shoes on which I liked and probably helps with cleanliness. Though perhaps not the speediest connection, Internet worked fine for me and my casual use.
Food: It's worth getting the breakfast buffet. Yes, $6USD may be a lot in Bangkok, but it's definitely well worth the money - and you certainly can't get this quality and quantity of food for the price too many other places.
Bathroom: Great water pressure possible, but you must balance this with the water quickly filling the small tub. Note: Toiletries are very basic. There is no hair conditioner at the hotel so bring some or buy a bit for $1USD at the local 7-11.
Gym: Pretty small and basic, but has your essential machines and a set of weights. (You may have to plug in the cardio machines.) The treadmill was rather noisy, but it got the job done.
Concierge: English isn't very strong, but you can get basics across. Arranging car service through the hotel can be expensive, so take the sky train or flag down a moving taxi (not the ones in front of the hotel) to avoid rip-offs. It's best to have your location written down (in Thai preferable) and have a map to point out where you are going.

It is an average hotel if you want a short stay. The new floors are much better than the older ones. The location gives a little advantage. We had occupied 3 rooms on 3 different floors paying the same amount but it was very strange that the housekeeping services provided in them were different. The room service was very slow. The breakfast buffet was good.
