“2nd visit”
Reviewed May 1, 2013

This was the second visit to this hotel and again the hotel did not disappoint. Food, service and facilities are brilliant. I have only one criticism and that's the lack of/limited Internet access. Wifi is only available in communal areas like the lobby or pool, in your room you have to connect by cable. Not really an option if you are using a tablet or smartphone! Either way they also apply a small charge for the access. We ended up going over the street to the smoothie bar and sitting in there to use their free Wifi whilst eating and drinking. Limited/no Internet access in a modern 4 star hotel in a major city? Really??

Stayed here in April 2013 as a single traveller (mid 60's female). The hotel and staff were marvellous. The doormen in particular seemed to take it as an affront if you tried to open the door on your own, or opened the car door, or carried your own suitcases. They were friendly and ever so helpful. My room was on the 12th floor and overlooked the roadway, fascinating at all times of the day with the traffic.
The pool was to die for as were the surrounds and the shrine in the corner of the entranceway. The pool restaurant/bar was not serving meals while I was there only drinks.

However the location left a bit to be desired. I travel a lot on my own and was wary of walking more than a few hundred metres down the road to the 7 11. I did not feel comfortable walking anywhere at night. However taxis and tuk tuks were cheap.

Overall a very nice hotel, great breakfast, lovely staff.

Absolutely loved our stay here. Breakfast was divine, Seafood Buffet exceeded our expectations, internet & office services excellent & handy to most local places. Excellent laundry shop & massage place nearby.
Hotel drivers were a little irritating as they were always trying to con us into going places we did not want to go to, a bit scary....
We would definitely return here again.

Can't really fault the hotel in general, beautiful, clean rooms, lovely breakfast, just a wee bit out of things we thought. Would definitely recommend getting a taxi transfer from airport, train service is amazing but not if you have cases to pull as the pavements leave a lot to be desired.

We were a little disappointed with this hotel because the photos on the website are really quite misleading. The lobby makes for quite a grand entrance, very spacious and opulently decorated- definitely makes a good first impression! We stayed on the 22nd floor and once out of the elevator it was as though we had stepped into a completely different hotel altogether! Our room was extremely dated and not at all in keeping with the lobby. Dated and dreary carpets, dated furniture. Very decent sized bed but even bed spread looked a little dated! The bathroom was spacious with a good sized shower and bath but again extremely dated marble suite. Shower seemed on it's last legs with water pouring out of top of shower head and bath tub looked dirty so chose not to use it! The breakfast was pleasant with a very good selection, and seemed good quality. The breakfast hall was nice and in keeping with the lobby, unlike our rooms. The pool pictures are again VERY misleading and a real disappointment- very small cramped outdoor space, at one point I had a large hairy man who may as well have been sharing my sun lounger with me due to a lack of outdoor space. The pool (if you can call it that) beside the raised area where sun loungers are is approx 1 foot deep so more of a large puddle really. There is a deeper pool area where you first walk in but it's not overly convenient and not large enough to swim in. The sun loungers are dark leather so you can imagine how hot they get- one dark green pool towel only covers half the lounger so unless you want to burn your legs, you will need two towels per person. Taking into consideration this is a city hotel and lounging by the pool is probably not everyone's priority whilst in Bangkok but if you do want a nice pool or nice room, this is not the hotel for you- don't be fooled by the photos on website. The location is good and fairly central considering it's only about a 10-15 minute walk to the sky train which can take you most places. A few restaurants nearby on the walk to the sky train. Not quite right for the first 4 nights of our honeymoon..

The hotel was great! The staff are so friendly and wonderful with kids. Our sin didnt want to leave the doorman! Rooms are clean and have all you need. Restaurants have lovely food and the bars are nice too.

The location felt like it was a bit away from everything but it could have just been the traffic?!

Overall, the hotel was great, the only let down was the location.
