Reviewed December 5, 2007

I have just recently spent four nights at the Pesident Solitare.
Ihave no hesitation in recomending this hotel, for service, Staff friendlyness, room service Thai food was fantastic. The suite itself was very comfortable, Seperate bath and shower, huge 6ft plus, double bed, and if you want to watch T.V. A 42 inch plasma.

Thank RONI19

Dear Roni19,

Thanks a lot for your very nice comments on the President Solitaire's rooms and friendly service!
Thank you as well for recommending our hotel to others. All rooms are indeed very spacious and provided with very large double beds, 42" plasma TV's as well as complimentary wireless internet.
We are glad to hear that you also enjoyed the Thai food prepared by the Dining Room and will compliment the Chef and his team on your behalf!
We hope we will have the pleasure to welcome you back to the Solitaire this year again.
Warm regards,

Nathalie Burtin

I stayed at this hotel on a couple of occasions during November, and can highly recommend it to both tourist and business travellers alike. I stayed in a couple of different suites and found them to clean, comfortable, well appointed, and generally a pleasant environment inwhich to spend time. The room service was affordable, quick, and the meals were nice. The hotel lobby bar was welcoming and the piano player and singer was very entertaining. It closed early, but then again, you don't go to Bangkok to sit and drink in a hotel bar!

All in all, a very good place to stay with an ideal location at very affordable prices. I highly recommend this hotel and will certainly be staying there again. The only way they could improve would be to rid themselves of the taxi drivers on the other side of the road that sit there and pester you as you leave. But, that's part of Bangkok and if you walk 100 yards, you can easily find a taxi-meter at any time of day and night.

Dear AdamBanks,

Thank you very much for your very kind comments on the President Solitaire!
We are glad to hear that you have stayed with us several times already and that you are planning to stay with us again.
The Solitaire indeed welcomes every day many repeated guests who choose our hotel for both business and leisure, thanks to the warm attention of our team, the complimentary wireless internet, the meeting facilities, our large spa as well as our location close to the main shopping and entertainment centres.
We have well noted your comments on the taxi drivers parked across the street. We unfortunately can not do anything against that. We nevertheless do not recommend them and call meter taxis from the street directly to avoid any distubance to our guests.
We look forward to your next stay with us!
Warm regards,

My husband and I stayed here for the second time in three years because the first time the experience was very good. This time we found the staff to be very unhelpful and unreliable. We needed an extra stay in a busy period, the staff told us to send a request by email and though busy, they'd fix it. I went down to talk to them three times in one day and in the end they said t talk next day to them. Next morning, all the new staff didn't know what was going on and they just simply looked at us and said they didn't have a room for us, period. We heard this when we were leaving for the airport where we didn't know if we'd have a chance to find a hotel for the next stay we needed. We managed to find a different hotel, but the hotel's staff was absolutely not useful nor helpful (though they have another hotel down the same street for example).
We went back to pick up some luggage we had left there and they didn't care much about what they had done (or actually not done) either, They just said sorry and further didn't move a muscle of their faces.

The Ananda Spa though nice is quite expensive for Bangkok and their services just like any other spas in town.

Nothing has changed nor improved in three years. Breakfast is the same, etc.

We won't go back for sure!

My apologies to "Flopsyboo" for the disappointment caused during your last stay.
Our receptionists will indeed always try their utmost best to find a room in another property, in case the Solitaire is fully booked. There seem to have been some miscommunication regarding your request for a second stay, and we would like to sincerely apologize for this inconvenience that does not reflect the usual high standards of service set for the property.
We do hope that we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to the property in the near future and have you experience the friendly and attentive service the Solitaire is known for. NBBKK

We booked a Junior Suite which looked like a luxury apartment on the website but on arrival looked very very tired and in need of major renovation.

The Jacuzzi Bathroom contains a big bathtub easily accommodating two people however the water ran brown for 30 minutes before settling on off-green.

The Hotel generally looks well past its best with shabby carpets and paintwork behind the reception and restaurant facade's both of which have been spruced up to give a modern boutique look for the benefit of the website photographs i guess.

Breakfast is adequate at best, see the previous comments regrading the Bacon, nothing has changed.

We booked a late 4pm check-out as is offered as standard at this Hotel only to be informed at 12.40 that we must leave by 1pm! ... The old 'Subject to Availability' rule which they enfored giving us 20mins to pack and shower.

In conclusion this Hotel is not bad value for a very large suite apartment with a kitchen and jacuzzi, however dont be fooled if you think this a standard suitable for your Honeymoon!

Our sincere apologies to "Jammies", if the late check out was not available as requested. The official check out time is 12 noon and upon availability of rooms on the day of departure, this check out time can indeed be extended by a few hours. The receptionist should nevertheless have reminded you on the check out time upon your arrival in order to avoid any disappointment at a later stage. Please accept our apologies for this inconvenience.
The hotel has a strict preventive maintenance programm in place for all rooms and public areas in order to maintain the property at its highest standards at all times. We are sorry to hear that you felt it was not up to your expectations during your stay. Regarding the water in the Jacuzzi, kindly be informed that there may indeed be some slight change in water colour during maintenance on the water pumps only. This nevertheless remains exceptional and does not much affect the colour of the water. Please rest assured that all the water used at the property is treated in order to maintain the highest hygiene standards at all times.
We do hope we will have the opportunity to welcome you back to our property in the near future. NBBKK.

First visit to Bangkok and stayed at this hotel after a
recommendataion from a friend.

Staff very friendly and efficient. Check in swift, with minimum fuss.
Slight problem at check in when staff told us that we were booked on room only basis, whereas we had paid for bed and breakfast.
This was quickly resolved.

Breakfast was very good, with plenty of choices and made to order omeletes available.

In fact we also ate dinner in the hotel on one occasion and found the meal to be excellent. Somewhat pricey compared to the many nearby
outside restaurants, but that is only to be expected.

Location is also very good, although we did have a bit of a problem with all the building work going on in the street that we had to walk
along in order to get to the hotel. This would not put us off staying
in this hotel on our next visit to Bangkok though.

5 minute walk to the "Sky Train " station at NANA, which is a very efficient and cheap way of seeing Bangkok-- we used it many times during our stay.

All in all a very nice hotel, with friendly efficient staff, large clean rooms with fridge/cooker/kettle/in-room safe/nice bathroom etc.
Cannot really find any fault with this hotel, especially at around £55 per room per night! Would definately stay there again.

booked through wotif.com and got a great deal on a solitaire suite, it was a lot bigger than I thought it would be, separate dining/ lounge and kitchen to the bedroom. The big screen tv was great, although the post from the bed obscures the screen a bit. Bathroom was good size too, the staff were excellent, I can't speak highly enough about them, from the moment you step out of the taxi, they are well mannered and very attentive, the room service was affordable and very prompt as well as being very tasty, a good selection of Thai and western food on the menu. Breakfast was very good too, with a change in foods each day as well as the usual western breakfast, the only problem being, if you timed it badly, you missed out on the limited seating and had to eat outside by the pool. Overall, we had a great stay and will definatly come back on our next trip.

This was our base for a few days in Bangkok as part of our honeymoon trip. It is pretty much a business hotel so not much of a feel to it. On the plus side the location is great.....staggering distance from Bed Supper Club....as we found out a couple of times....on Soi 11. Rooms are decent size and everything worked but it was functional rather than aestetically pleasing. Fine if on a budget but not the most luxurious hotel in Bangkok I am sure. Good value for money though and you could definitely do worse....and the spa is very good.
