“Airport factory hotel”
Reviewed November 30, 2012

The “Grand Convention” is more like a sleep-over factory than a hotel where guest could feel themselves welcomed and comfortable. The Miracle in its name seems to be a riddle. It’s not from the outdated furniture in the rooms or from the old wooden bathroom cabinets that are screaming for a fresh painting. It’s not from the unfriendly staff at the front desk treating you like a number. It’s definitely not from the stains in the bed linen or in the towels. The hotel calls itself 5*. From our point of view 2,5* is more appropriate.

The rate of one night stay inclusive of transfer to the airport (10 min drive) had given us no unexpected surprises because that was in our own hands. we have chosen this hotel because of its location close to the airport and our early morning flight after the overnight.

spent one night since I was in transit in Bangkok, and my travel agent booked me there. There's nothing to do there, its a place you want to be only if you are homeless. When I went for breakfast, I almost left, the toaster was not cleaned in months, the coffee machine was sticky...you get the picture.

We stayed in this hotel only for one night as we wanted to catch our morning flight from Don Muang airport to Chiang Rai. Unfortunately we realized later that we made a real wrong choice! The front desk staff were very unfriendly and have no service-minded! They do not know how to  have proper communication with their guest. We booked 2 double rooms with connecting doors however we're given one double room and one twin room with opsosite doors(the doors're not a big deal). We're told that they gave our rooms to other guest who checked in earlier. Wow! It's quite something isn't it? Next to that our rooms're very outdated, poor maintenance and the beds're very uncomfortable. The only positive side is a free shuttle service to DMK.

Though I've been to Bangkok five times already, my conceptual map of the city isn't that good, thus I have no idea if this Hotel is near the center or not, but it seems fairly close t where we needed to go most of the time.

Though the hotel itself feels a bit ... dated. Efforts to keep it clean and running can be felt significantly. They have a sizable pool (around 20 M if remember correctly) and a well equipped gym, more well equipped than most hotels I've been to in BKK.

The food was good as expected but this is probably because I'm quite partial to Thai food in general. I simply love the stuff!

If there is any area of improvement, that staff did not seem as friendly than what I'm used to in Thailand. One of the reasons why we keep coming back to Thailand is because the people are so friendly, BUT this hotel;s staff wasn't quite up to the same friendliness.

It is a bit out of town nearby old Bangkok airport. If you are joining the meeting or conference at hotel convention center, this is a perfect place to stay to avoid Bangkok traffic. It provide free wifi account for the whole stay with reasonably fast connection. Breakfast is my favorite, variety of food and good taste as typical Thai food.

We booked one night at the miracle at their Website since we had an early flight to catch next morning at Don muang. We got some kind of confirmation email which stated explicitely that it is not the voucher needed at Check-in. This Voucher should be sent after they checked our Credit Card. We never received any other email, although we asked for our Voucher several times by mail. We really needed a place to stay for this night, so we booked another hotel. After our return we noticed that the miracle had nonetheless used our Credit Card for payment. All emails we sent, complaining that we never received a Voucher or an answer to our emails, were ignored. Poor!!

My wife and I booked this Hotel for one night only on the 30th August, as it was close to a hospital that we needed to visit a family member, on the positive side of things the staff in the restaurant were very good as was the buffet, the spa staff are also very pleasant with a very good selection of treatments. On the negative side of the Hotel, the room was antiquated to say the least, the air conditioning was loud and not cold, the TV was out of Noahs Ark, stained carpets and dirty walls but worst of all was the bed, it was like sleeping on a plank of wood, in fact a very restless night with a sore back this morning, there are no security cameras in the room corridors, I would not let my wife stay there by herself. The icing on our stay was not being unable to get into our room as the batteries needed replacing in the door lock, it took over 30 mins before we could gain entry after 2 return trips to reception from the 10th floor. On check out we ask the receptionist their star rating and we were told 5 star, there is no way that this Hotel could ever be considered this, more like 3 stars at a push!. The management really need to spend money on refurbishment of the rooms, if they did it could be an enjoyable stay but until then I would not return.
