Stayed here with my son for 5 nights Oct 12. Stayed in the Krungthep Wing which offered great views of river, complementary high tea, pre-dinner drinks & nibbles from 5pm-8pm & breakfast.
Skytrain station nearby. Comfortable beds and nothing was a problem for staff. Great service.

MY OWN OPINION:

UPSIDE (1) best if you have breakfast as you can see the river (2) also next to the local market and boat that selling various thai stuffs (3) many clean massage (really massage!) centres around the hotel (you can sleep while they massage your foot etc) - very healthy (4) room is so nice and spacious (5) awesome staffs

DOWNSIDE: probably a bit far from the Bangkok city centre - expected. The place is supurb for the family.

Stayed here for three nights on our way home from Samui. The room was not ready at 7.30pm . A mattress was placed on the floor for our 10 year old daughter to sleep on. After several phone calls to the front desk ,we were told they had no spare fold away beds and this was the best they could. This room was booked 6 months in advance . Not really 5 star sleeping on the floor. Hotel was very clean , in a good location and the breakfast was ok.
On the whole very average , at a very average price. Would follow my own instincts next time and go with a reassuring more expensive hotel

Room Tip: South facing river view rooms are probably best . The higher the better . Boats can be quite noisy

We spent the week before in the same chain in Kuala Lumpur and pretty much knew what to expect. Our room was on a nice high floor and we enjoyed proper English Fish & Chips in the restaurant for lunch! Home away from home.

We stayed at this hotel for 3 nights on the way to one of the islands,first impressions were very positive the staff were at tentative and appeared very efficient. When we arrived we were left sitting in reception for a very long time as we were checked in, then the room was not ready !!!!!At 4.30 in the afternoon that was very odd, especially since we maid our reservation in August!!!!!! The very pleasant receptionist then offered us complimentary afternoon tea whilst we waited even longer,this was actually part of our package anyway!!!!

After over an hour we finally got our room which was fine and perfectly suitable for our needs.


Not a good start to our stay especially with a hotel of this calibre.


The hotel has allegedly been refurbed but it is very tired looking especially in the lounge and dining room area where the furniture is very shabby and the upholstery is stained and threadbare.


The restaurant staff need a training programme as they are lacking in attention to service and you can east there a while before they a rurally notice you are there.


This hotel is in an ideal position for all the amenities such as sky train and metro,river ferries etc and that makes it a god choice but it could do with a little management prompting to get the standard up.The staff don't appear happy in their work which reflects in the service.

Room Tip: Krungthepwing have the better rooms and packages check with your agent or ebooker

Both the facility and the staff at Shangri-La Bangkok are top notch. From the moment we checked in until the moment we checked out, we felt valued as guests. There are several restaurant options to Choose from within the hotel, which from our experience were all amazing. Great pool with excellent pool side service. Free river boat to "Asiatique" every night, plus much more...

The resort does a great job of coordinating daily activities for you and the family if you are interested in seeing the sights of Bangkok.

Great job to everyone at Shangri-La Bangkok. Thank you for making our stay so enjoyable.

Stayed a couple of nights with wife and little son in Krungthep Wing of Shangrila and we have been very satisfied: incredible location (at Chao Phraya, close to Skytrain and subway ....) beautiful views of Chao Phraya from Balkony, nice rooms, good food, nice pool good value for money. Yes it would need some refurbishment but this did not bother us. Will be back
