Rembrandt Hotel Bangkok
Ranked #100 of 881 Hotels in Bangkok
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed January 16, 2007

We've stayed at the Rembrandt several times since 2004 and have always returned.

The lobby and rooms are 'tastefully appointed' and the service (we found) has always been excellent.

The hotel is just off Sukhumvit within 5 mins walking distance from the BTS so is in an ideal location for pretty much most places in BKK - even the long(ish) trip to Chatuchak by taxi costs about 100 THB and takes only 10-15 mins on a saturday morning.

The restaurants are good - especially the Italian (Da Vinci) facing the pool and the Indian, although we found the Mexican to be rather over priced. The ABF (which we always paid 50 baht more to have brought up to the room) is absolutely scrumptious and sets you up for a hard day of shopping and bargaining!

All in all - well recommended but for longer stays - check pricing and availability for the serviced apartments behind the main hotel (by the Red Pepper restaurant).

The hotel was recommended to us by a friend who had stayed there on several occasions. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. The room was very clean and the maid was extremely helpful. The swimming pool on the fourth floor was large and 5ft deep at the deep end. The room was not expensive but I felt they overcharged for alcoholic drinks. It was 4 times more expensive than local bars. I expect to pay more in a hotel but not by that much. As a result we ate and drank in the Admiral bar just across the road from the front entrance. Very good value there. A free tuk tuk takes you from the hotel to the Sukhumvit Road and the Asok sky train station. The taxi rank opposite the hotel overcharge but the hotel staff will arrange for a metered taxi for you if needed.

We have stayed at the Rembrandt Hotel 3 times over the last 3 years and always received superb service. On Saturday we turned up for our 4th visit and were taken aback by the rudeness of the reception staff. They even had the audacity to demand more money for our stay and it ended up with me having to go to a nearby internet cafe to email the agency i had booked a room through. (The reception staff had refused to allow me to use the hotel phone to make the call!!). By the time I returned to the hotel it appeared that they had solved the problem and eventually my wife and i were allowed to our room. Thankfully, this was after a short flight, I would hate to go through that after a long haul flight.

If only they had the grace and charm of the Executive Suite receptionists!

3 excellent stays, but Saturday certainly left a bitter taste in my mouth and it is doubtful we will stay there again with so many options available in Bangkok.

Overdue report !.
Stayed here once and will never stay here again !. Overall the hotel and its facilities were great. Nice huge breakfast but rather crowded with tourists. The room was great, clean.
Rather far to walk to the BTS station.
Irritating taxi drivers waiting nearby on road to "take u for a massage ". One showed me an XXX rated photo.
Overly tight security. Front desk staff not friendly, nor helpful to asian guests. Blatant discrimination.

This was the first time I stayed in the Rembrandt, having stayed at many other hotels around Bangkok on previous trips. My friends had stayed there and recommended the hotel - especially the excellent indian and mexican restaurants in the hotel - and boy did i make the right choice.

The food was scrumptious, so tasty I'm planning my next trip just to be able to eat the Indian food again! the view from the restaurant is spectaclar and so romantic. I took so many beautiful photos from the restaurant balcony.

Getting to and from the hotel is really easy. There is a BTS skytrain station about a 5 minute walk from the hotel, and taxis are available at the front very easily. The hotel is in a very central location, so getting around a traffic filled city is made very easy.

The breakfast choice is amazingly huge, and is highly recommended as you will definately not want to eat lunch out and save yourself to come back to dinner in the hotels amazing restaurants.

Staff are very pleasant and helpful, as most Thai people are, and were willing very much to accommodate the needs of my family as I was travelling with 3 small children.

I will definately be staying here again

I used to live in SE Asia and visited Thailand many times for business and pleasure. I stayed here recently and found the hotel itself to be above average from the lobby to the room. However, the reception staff was as "stuck up" as you can find in Thailand and the location is about 10 minutes from the nearest BTS. For those of you who have never been to Thailand, you want to be near the BTS if you want a comfortable, affordable access to key locations. Also, this place is not "guest friendly" and they are very strict about it.

We stayed for 3 nights during 4 - 7 October 2006 at the Rembrandt Bangkok and I booked this hotel because I particularly remember my stay there in 2003 on a business trip.

The hotel had maintained its standards and overall it was a pleasant stay for me and my family. However, I must point out one thing. They actually 'charge' 25 Thai baht for newspaper in the room. I think thats ridiculous. A newspaper is provided free at every other hotel.

However, apart from this small aberration, I would rate this hotel as pretty good, a good location, with some interesting eating places just across the road, Green Park in particular has personalised service and good food.

Would definitely stay at Rembrandt once more if I go again to Bangkok.
