We stayed at the Royal President for 3 nights in August 2008. We checked in after staying in Samui and Phuket and found there were good and bad things.

The Bad - this almost ruined our stay. Upon check in, perhaps the rudest service person I have ever encountered was assigned to check us in. She gave us the key without a word about where to go and before we had even stood to get our bags, she got up and walked away. I wrote about this in the customer comment cards that are in the lobby so the manager should know who she is.

The other unpleasant experience we had was upon leaving the hotel. Our flight was at midnight and we had booked into an airport hotel. We decided to use the Royal Presidents Limo Service and booked it the night before - we gave the tour operator all the details of the hotel including the name, address etc. Anyway we come to get into the Limo and the driver had no idea where we were going. We told him to turn around and take us back to the hotel and we would get another cab but he persisted and said he could find it. Long story short - it took us almost 90 mins for him to discover he had no idea where he was going (including us talking to the Royal President on his cell phone), so he dropped us at the airport and told us to get a cab to the airport hotel. Not what you expect from a 'limousine' service.

Saying that, the men who helped us to our room and with our bags were fantastic.

The Room - our room was lovely and very big and also lovely and cool after being in the Bangkok heat. The bed was on wheels which was strange though as it moved everytime someone sat on it. Our DVD player didnt work and we asked for it to be fixed and it wasnt. Everything else was fine though.

The Hotel - The hotel itself is nice and as has been said, being renovated. We never ate at the restaurant but we had room service and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. The pool looks nice but we never used it. The location is decent as well - a few minute walk to Sukhumvit Road and the sky train is right there.

We would not stay at this hotel again due to the service we encountered.

Dear Khun livmack,

Thank you for your kind feedback both negative and positive points.

We were very distressed to hear about the unpleasant experiences these must have caused you especially regarding our front desk's attitude and limousine service. I would like to reassure you that we take the issue of friendliness and efficiency extremely seriously in the hotel.

Apart from these incidents, we are delighted to learn that you were enjoyed our room and foods from room service. Once restaurant and kitchen renovation finish by this October, there will be more variety of food for our guests.

Indeed, our location is decent from Asoke BTS and Sukhumvit MRT station with our free shuttle tuk tuk service.

Khun livmack, since we cannot change the circumstances you encourtered and to show you how much we value your comment, we would be very pleased to offer you a one-night complimentary accommodation including breakfast valid for one year at Royal President at any time during your next visit. Please contact me personally whenever you wish to make a reservation in oder for me to make the necessary arrangements to ensure that you will be looked after in the way befitting a valid guest.

We trust you are kind enough to accept our sincere apologies and do not mar your visit to our hotel.

Yours sincerely,

I have absolutely no idea why people give this hotel such good reviews. My wife and I were offered no assistance with our bags upon arrival. The desk staff were unsmiling and bored. Our room was tired, small and overpriced. Breakfast was good. Location good but much better hotels within a few hundred meters at a similar price. We moved out after a couple of nights and were very glad we did.

Lobby is not big. But room is about 1.5 times bigger than standard hotelrooms. Room facilities are more and better. But no carpet in the room using marble tiles. Key card is also used for lifts for better security. I feel I'll choose servicements than hotels.

My husband and I frequent Bangkok, this is so far the most satisfying hotel we had stayed. The room is big, clean and cosy. The breakfast they serve is great, worth my while to wake up earlier for the breakfast buffet. It is near to bts, 24 hr massage, night spots like Bed Supper club and u can find food easily even u are hungry in the middle of the night. It's even near a supermarket.
The stuffs are friendly and helpful.
This is my definite choice when we go bangkok again.

It was my wonderful time to stay in the wonderful hotel in Bangkok. I went there for vacation with my friend. First time, we was so impressive that a staff kept smiling to us and talked very polite. We was tired from long trip but we slept in gouseous room. Our room was so big, nice and clean. The internet connection was also provided in the room but it was not work well all the time. However it still was nice for us.The pool was so clean and big.We ordered drink and laid down near the pool. The staff was very freindly to us too.We had a chance to do spa and it was so great . The staff did the hot stone for us that was so comfortable and I almost fell as sleep. We just loved it.We had a great meal at the restaurant in the hotel. We did try Thai Tom Yum because the staff did recommend for us and we liked it. They also provided a various menu for us but we got the promotion of the month and the price was reasonable. Next day,we took a skytrian to shopping and travelled around Bangkok. We went to Siam Square and weekly market. It was nice and we didn't get any traffic jam in Bangkok. It was so convenient for us to take skytrain cause it was close to the hotel. We recommend this hotel for whoever haven't know where to go. The is value for your money and for your wonderful time.

The check in area was rather simple, only 2 desks. Guess its a serviced apartment on the whole. Not really a hotel. That explains the reception area. The pool is at level one - Not too big.
The room, (i chose the executive, is very big. The king size bed is good as well. There is even a sofa set in the room. The ktichen is well kept with all the cutleries and utensils in place. The washroom is pretty big as well. Air con works fine and so is the fridge. However, one drawback is the view from the room. It faces a car park and there people walking at the car park all the time. So most of the time, we draw up our curtain. The location of the hotel is not fantastic. Have to walk about 15 minutes to the nearest BTR. However, the hotel does provide a "tut-tut" ride free of charge to the BTR station from the hotel.
