“Needs a facelift urgently”
Reviewed July 26, 2013

This hotel is centrally located close to eateries (lot of Indian food is also available close to the hotel), shopping malls and couple of BTS stations (Asok and Nana). Very easy to move around city of Bangkok as the hotel is located close to the public transport. Room looks out-dated but spacious, clean and well maintained. It would be very good if rooms get a facelift.

Breakfast is good with good number of options to choose from. Restaurant in hotel is very clean. WIFI connectivity is awful. During my 4 day stay, I couldn't connect to the internet even once using WIFI. Checkin and Checkout process is smooth and doesn't take much time. Staff and serice is Okay.

Doesn't disappoint those who are planning to spend most of the time outside visiting attractions in the city. Not recommended for those who plan to spend leisure time within the hotel as there are not much options available for recreation within the hotel.

Nothing exciting but decent enough. Overall a good value for money.

Dear Sudhir T,

Thank you very much for taking the time and efforts to write a constructive review about us.
We really appreciate this. I am very delighted to learn that you and your family members love our hotel location, spacious, clean and well-maintained hotel rooms, food quality and variety during breakfast, as well as the overall service experience.

Sudhir T, I accept as true that there are some outdated rooms that it is now a work in progress for us to uplift them so as to enhance customer experience during their future stay with us.
The project will take around 2 - 3 months to complete.

Now, regarding the WiFi connectivity, our guests barely have the issues with the internet unless there are existing firewall and/or security settings on your devices which prevent you from connecting to the internet from an unknown location for first time logging in. Usually, our IT support can fix this for customers without delay.

Best regards,
Thitichai I.

We did a trip to Thailand in which we covered Phuket, Pattaya and Bangkok. Of all the 4 star hotels that we were booked in, this one topped them all. The rooms are really elite and well done up and have a feeling of elegance in them. The service was really fast. The room had wifi throughout with a router just outside our door. The location is a bit interior but the room definitely makes up for the same. Would definitely wanna stay here if I do visit Bangkok again.

Room Tip: As it is surrounded by buildings, dont think you would get a good enough view. So would just recomme...

I have stayed here so many times in the past, it is sad to say that it is my last. The location is fab, but oh dear the rooms are getting into a terrible state. I stayed in a suite this time in the main building, and it was a disgrace, the rooms were shabby and dirty, strange stains on the walls, the linen is worn, the beds are worn out and the showers are useless.

Maybe I just had a bad room.

I don't think so!

Royal President your day has come, close the doors and sort yourself out.
The staff used to be happy and smiling all the time, but there is an air of gloom and depression over the whole place. The Tuk Tuk that used to run so freely is now limited to every half hour, which is no good to man nor beast, the mini mart has closed, and the menu has changed for the worse.
Sorry RP would love to say nice things again but I have to tell the reader what is really going on.
Be careful in the pool, its not up to health and safety standards! you have been Trip advised

Room Tip: Stay opposite in the Dream Hotel

Dear JustJack112,

Thank you for the candid feedback.

We strive to make sure that all of our guests enjoy all aspects of their time with us, and if not it is important for us to always be able to handle customer problems right away. We are really sorry we failed at this and that both the facilities and services did not meet your expectations this time round.

A refurbishment of 16 rooms is a work in progress, we should have newly refurbished rooms
within the next 2 - 3 months from now. We have also purchased all new electrical appliances for these rooms i.e. flat screen TVs, dvd players, hot plates, exhausted hood, washing machine, refrigerator, telephones, microwave oven, and etc.

JustJack112, we decided to run our 3-wheel shuttle service based on every 30-minute interval so the guests know exactly if when tuk-tuk will depart from the hotel and that the tuk-tuk will always be available for them when they need (according to this fixed schedule). Well, it happened in the past that some guests came down to the lobby, and our tuk tuk already left.

Also, we are now on process to uplift our tuk-tuk i.e. repainting and changing the seat covers and other spare parts. Our newly upgraded tuk-tuk is expected to be in service by the first week of August 2013 (this project is now 90% completion).

We recently approved the new menu (on last Sunday 22 July 2013) with adding at least 30-35 local signature dishes. In the past, there were more of western menu items. The new menu will be available for our customers by the coming weeks of August 2013.

With regards to the minimart, unfortunately, their rental contract expired last month, we are now negotiating with other possible vendors to bring it back to normal operation soonest. The idea is to have them operate it 24 hours a day 7 days a week.

We have hired many new employees, so I accept as true that service could be inconsistent lately. We will deliver effective trainings very soon with a point of difference as we need to reinforce skills necessary to improve our customer service levels as you also suggested.

A general cleaning of our swimming pool is performed everyday early in the morning includes:

- Vacuum pool / - Brush pool / - Clean skimmer baskets / - Clean waterline tile / - Backwash filtration system / - Remove facility trash / - Fill water to proper level / - Inspect filtration equipment to ensure proper operation / - Test and adjust pool water chemistry to health department standards

I am sorry again that on this occasion we failed to meet your expectations and do hope that you would consider staying with us again, should you visit Royal President at all in the future.

Best regards,
Thitichai I.

The saving grace here is the location. The rooms are decent, well cleaned and the Wi Fi is just about ok but the pool is tiny, certainly not recreational, more a wet sun deck. The eating options are limited and the gym is a minor attraction. But the location is great and the staff quite helpful and if you plan ahead you can get a useful deal in low season.Nothing exciting but decent enough. And close to the Sky Train.Loads of restaurants near by.
Ask for a high floor. Some of the rooms are overlooked by a huge car park and are positively subterranean.

Room Tip: Book ahead and ask for a high floor.

I can only recommend this hotel. Was dropped off in the wrong place by the limo driver from the airport, but by help from very friendly staff I arrived to the right Hotel....Check in was fast. I was jetlagged and couldn't get the WIFI to work and complained ( It was my fault...Never try to get things to work when tired and jetlagged... My apologises to the staff for me being grumpy...) Breakfast good and varied and it was spotless clean everywhere. Late checkout was no problem. It was my first visit to Royal PResident but definately not the last one. Close to every thing in the heart of Bangkok. Thanks

My dad always stays at this hotel while in Bangkok and I have stayed here twice on my travels with him. The staff are so friendly and always remember regular customers. The concierge/bell boys are lovely also and they do the free tuk tuk service.
The room I stayed in both times was big and spacious, a little dark due to the furniture with a good powerful air con! Bathroom is a bit dated and shabby with coat hook on the back of the door falling off and not much space to place toiletries. But a lovely bed and quiet too.
Breakfast is lovely and always a good choice and the staff there are friendly and will get what you need.
I'm coming back here next week before we head down to koh Samui. Looking forward to coming back!

Room Tip: If staying alone or room on your own, make sure you ask that is not an interconnecting room! Mine wa...

We stayed again with this group of hotels. For location well centered in Sukhumvit, and spacious well-equipped accommodations, it has been our choice. The hotels are not new, and the décor is a bit dark in the suites we stayed in (some are done in a lighter blond wood and are brighter hued). The junior suite we paid for, they upgraded to a deluxe suite: living room, kitchen with cooktop, washer dryer, two desks, 2 TV's with good channel availability. King bed, 2 zone air con, spacious bath with tub and shower box, all in marble (if a bit old stone, newer chrome fixtures), fast Wi-Fi, responsive bell staff. A little over $70. Included breakfast with lots of choices including custom prepared eggs and a number of cooked dishes. The best deals are found on their own website (equal to or better than the hotel websites), but timing is crucial. From one day to the next the same room can be offered with prices halved or doubled! And if you book too close to day of arrival, the best deals will be replaced with high prices. There are other Sukhumvit properties that are very nice in this price range, BUT we couldn't find all the amenities and space provided by Royal President at their prices. So we used them as our Bangkok hub for Thai travels 3 different times on this trip. The bell staff were accommodating and stored our extra luggage when we went to the islands and had checked bag weight restrictions from the discount island hopping airlines (Air Asia and Bangkok Air). So we trimmed back to beach essentials for jaunts to Phuket, Samui and Koh Tao. For us: excellent stays, excellent value.

Room Tip: If you have family or lots of baggage, suites are good choice
