Had 4 nights booked here by a family member. Worked out to be less than $30 USD per night because of a group discount, but even at that price it wasn't really worth it.

The facilities are somewhat old and worn. Not enough to make me feel unsafe or grossed out, we were comfortable enough, but it didn't really feel nice.

The biggest problem is location. It's miles from anything a tourist would want to see, and a long (and somewhat scary) walk to the nearest skytrain station. The time and money you'll spend trying to get to and from Sena Place will probably cancel out most of the money you'd save by staying there, so do yourself a favor and stay someplace near Sukhumvit where it's much more convenient from a tourism standpoint.

On the plus side, it is fairly close to the JJ/Chatuchak weekend market. If you were only in town for a weekend and only needed to do some shopping, then I guess it might be worth staying at Sena Place. Then again, you could probably find someplace even closer to Chatuchak for that, or at least closer to a skytrain station.

This hotel is quite run down, and needs serious refurbishment. Our room had worn, stained carpets with burn marks (cigarette burns?) and peeling wallpaper. The bathroom was small and i did not like to have a bath because of worn bath enamel and discoloured grouting, but ok to stand in to have shower which worked well (the one postive point about this hotel).

The breakfast is a bit limited in choice but ok for the price. The staff were not very friendly and appear to mainly cater for groups of thai people on seminars.

The area around the hotel has nothing of interest for tourist and is a 15/20 mins walk to skytrain. Also not easy to find taxi as hotel is in a small side street with no through traffic. To summarise neither the hotel or the area has anything going for it and definately not recommended even at the low price.

  • Liked — good shower
  • Disliked — run down room

It was a place to sleep and not even that good. The air conditioner did not work very good, the pillows are very hard, and the beds were uncomfortable. The pool was small but relaxing if you were the only person out there. No wireless internet and if wanting to watch t.v., only one of our stations had sound and it was in Thai. There is internet available in the lobby but it is 50 Baht/ 30 minutes. The location of the hotel is not in a nice area either. We were staying in this hotel as we were on our way from Chiang Mai to America because we were moving back. We called before coming to ask (in Thai) if our dogs were able to stay with us in the hotel. They told us "yes! We love dogs." over the phone. But the next day after we got here, in true "saving face" fashion, they told us that was not true. But after paying them 2,000 baht extra and moving to a new room where the dogs had to stay in their kennels the entire time, they were able to stay. We had to move to a room right across the hallway. Housekeeping made very rude comments about the room not realizing we understood Thai. As we were moving our luggage across the hallway, the bell service man stood there and didn't help us one bit. This was not a good experience to leave in our minds about Thailand. Don't waste your money. There are much better places to stay here in Bangkok.

Really really don't! Especially if you are a backpacker (this place is advertised on several hostel/budget websites) - some of the staff are very rude and unhelpful and seem to think that backpackers are below them - do not expect a warm welcome. It is a fair way from the skytrain (15 min walk), which in turn is a fair way from the sites so expect to pay a lot for transport. The pool is tiny and used mainly by the pigeons for washing and drinking, the breakfast is below par (rank), the porter teats your bags like sacks of potatoes then expects to be tipped, and the rooms unexceptional. Put it this way - the taxi driver from the airport laughed at us when we told him we were staying at Sena Place!
