“Convenient if a little bland”
Reviewed April 19, 2013

The hotel is only 200 m walk from Phaya Thai station, the last stop of the special airport train. It's a 30 minute ride from the airport for only 45 BHT (beats a cab ride which can take over an hour depending on time and day). You need to walk as the hotel only offers (free) transfers to the station but no pick ups. If you do take a cab the hotel used be called Siam City and some drivers still know it under its old name.
The hotel itself is good and modern if a little nondescript and with little personality. I often judge a hotel by my memory of the room a few days after my visit and without the help of a photograph I have problems visualizing the interior. The room itself was large and functional, with reasonably sized writing desk and good wireless connection. The wardrobe space is OK for single occupancy, but would be rather small for two people staying longer.
There are various restaurants, such as Thai, Italian, Chinese (which unfortunately serves shark fin dishes), a coffee shop for small snacks and cakes, and a pool area. Along the main road (Si Ayutthaya) and the little lane (Soi Loet Punya) behind the hotel you will find plenty of street food ‘restaurants’ – literally one after the other, all busy and catering mainly to local people.
Tourist attractions, such as the Victory monument or Jim Thompson's House are 10-20 walk

Great staff, rooms, restaurant, pool and price. We had a great stay here. It is almost right across the street from the Skytrain. The staff will also help you get any where you want to go. We were treated like royalty!

This is a beautiful hotel, very clean lobby area and very clean rooms. Room spacious enough for my husband and myself. In room safe very handy and secure. Friendly staff throughout the whole hotel. We had a problem with the shower head went to reception and someone sent to fix it in a matter of 10 minutes. The breakfast buffet had a good variety of food and the pasties are delicious. All in all we had a pleasant experience at this hotel and would recommend it to others.

We're just speechless....hand garland was presented when we arrived at the airport...AMAZING!!! The room is beautiful and comfortable. The service was exceptional and outstanding. The staff really went out of their way to make out stay special. Wouldn't consider staying anywhere else when we next return to Bangkok!

Stayed at the Sukosol with a friend for 3nights......what a beautiful hotel!! Staff were very attentive and helpfull with a special recommendation for the lady on the tour desk who was very knowledgeable about all the tours the hotel was selling and helped us to pick the ones best suited to our time frames and needs. Best of all though the rooms were quiet-no plumbing noise, no bathroom noise , no slamming doors -pure bliss!

We stay at this hotel april 2013. The rooms are tastefull and the employees very friendly.
I loved the beds, it's like sleeping in a cocoon. Me and my friend inspected the whole bed because we had a very restfull night. Is very good quality for price.
The 21 floor, only for the members is a little paradise. The food was excellent and view superb. I stayed late at night in this exclusive lobby, reading the coffee table books. You learn quite a lot about Thailand and their loved royal family. It gave me ideas for the next trip to the palace and I was proud to explain to my friend about Thai history and all because the reading material in the club or 21 floor as we called.
The family Sukosol has other hotels. I will definetly visit the others when back to Thailand. These hotel show a lot of a family that is proud of its country and culture. Thumbs up.

Dear OnanchiC,

Thanks so much for taking the time to review our property, we really appreciate it.

We are thrilled that you loved our hotel so much, especially the staff, beds and Club Lounge, a favourite perk for those staying on our executive floors. It’s great to know you enjoy the spectacular view over the city, the nightly tapas and drinks buffet and extensive library.

Your are correct in saying that the Sukosol family have a real fondness for being Thai and showcasing everything this wonderful country and culture has to offer.

Please come visit with us again next time you’re in the City of Angels.

We spent three nights in the Sukusol in March. While the lobby and restaurant/bar areas are five star, the rooms are not. They are roomy but quite dated (chipped marble, furniture, etc.). I wouldn't have minded the dated issue...but what I did mind were the filthy carpets in the room. They were absolutely discusting; so grungy, in fact, I kept flip flops on my feet when in the room.

Meals in the restaurants were way overpriced. I've had just as good or breakfasts elsewhere for $5.00 while the Sukusol was charging $20.00

On the upside, the staff were amazing, as was the pool area!

Room Tip: Ask if the floor of your room is carpeted and, if so, ask to see the room before accepting it!

Thank you for taking the time to review our property, we really appreciate it.

We are sorry to hear that you did not find the cleanliness of our room up to five-star standard and thought the food in our award-winning restaurants overpriced.
