Hotel location is ace. A six minute walk to the Nana BTS (Sky Train) station and less than a fifteen minute walk to Tops Supermarket at Robinson. SOI 11 has several restaurants and bars all within a five minute walk.

We had a one-bedroom suite and were very satisfied. It had a king size bed and flat screen TV in the bedroom. There was one more flat screen TV in the other room as well as a work desk, couch, kitchen with stove, fridge, microwave and washer/dryer. Everything worked fine.

Buffet breakfast is included and there is something for everyone. This is full breakfast with eggs, meats, pancakes, cereals, juice, coffee etc.

The gym is decent and I used it every day. It will keep you fit. It's next to the pool and spa and there were always spare towels available.

Staff at the desk, coffee shop, gym and security people were all very polite ans welcoming. I would not hesitate to go back to The Grand President.

Room Tip: Go for the rooms in tower 2

I was recommended of this hotel by a work colleague and being in Bangkok the second time for business, i give it a try. Below is my assessment:
The Good
Price - The price is averagely cheap
Location - Good location with plenty of street vendors, eateries, pubs, 15mins away from Shopping Complex - Terminal and just 5 mins away from MRT station.
Breakfast - Fairly decent breakfast with mixture of local delights and western food. Enough
to keep you
Room - Room was ok and there was a location for kitchen where you can cook something.
The Bad
There are actually 3 wings on this hotel and the funny thing is , the hotel wings are located across the road from each other. Thus, when you go for breakfast, you need to go out from your hotel and cross the street and goes back to the main hotel wing for breakfast. It would be a bit uncomfortable if there are issues to attend by the front desk

Another bad experience i encountered during my stay is a strong smell of industrial glue. I experience headache when i first open the hotel room and after awhile, i complain to the front desk and ask for room change. I waited more than 30mins for the key to arrive and imagine me smelling the glue all the while.

Room are a bit run-down and please try to choose higher floor as the bathroom window binds tend not to work, so there are plenty of big gaps that you can see between when you showered and the outside.

Oh ya.... i also was rudely awaken during early mornings from the banging and shouting of a girl outside my room.

Take all that away and we can enjoy the nice night walk with plenty of things to see and buy from the busy and exciting life of Bangkok. Overall, this hotel is average for me. Good for 1~2 days stay.

We stayed 3 night's in a deluxe suite. The room is a bit tired but was a great size with separate bedroom. The shower fitting was poor and we would either get blistering hot or freezing cold water. I can't pinpoint anything major that we did not like and the staff were friendly, i just think for the money we paid there are better options. Our last night in Bangkok was a complimentary night at the sofitel and that was amazing, but it should be at $149 a night.

This was my 2nd stay at this hotel, the first stay was 2 years ago. This hotel has perfect location, close to everywhere such as BTS (Nana), Restaurants and Bar, Night Entertainment and shopping area.

I had a good experienced at the 1st stay, unfortunately we had not god experienced at the 2nd stay concerning the bathroom. When we checked in, the shower was leaking and the bathroom was completely wet everywhere even on the ceiling. Then, we change the room after spoke to the staff and the shower was fine at this time..however, the water was running very slow and when we would like to turn into hot shower, it becomes really hot and we couldn't adjust the warm of the water. We stayed at Tower 3 last time.

The reception was okay, not really helpful but it doesnt really a problem. The staff at concierge was really nice and helpful, he arrange the day tour for us and unfortunately we couldnt meet him again before we checked out.The breakfast was good and has many choices, nothing to complain about.

We spent more than a week at the Grand President and being frequent visitors to Thailand and Bangkok used to stay at the sister property of Grand President the President Solitaire which is a smaller and quieter property just a 100 meters away.

We changed hotels as the level of maintenance had gone down drastically at President Solitaire in the last few years and the hotel is badly in need of a refurbishment.

If the management are not on the ball with Grand President, this is also headed the President Solitaire way with guests shying away from what was once a wonderful property. Right now things are not bad but without any routine replacements and refurbishment soon, in a couple of years Grand President will reach the level of where President Solitaire is today.

The rooms are huge and comfortable. The rooms to stay in are the Junior Suites or the Deluxe Suites. We booked a Junior Suite with a confirmed upgrade to the Deluxe Suite. You should be either in tower 1 or Tower 2. Not in Tower 3 which is across the road. There are many reviews about Tower 3 which are not very flattering and most of the negative reviews of the entire hotel stem from the people who have stayed in Tower 3.

The Beds are really great and Housekeeping is good. Our room was really huge with a separate Living Room, fully equipped kitchenette etc and high up in Tower 2 without any noise. The website even now says the toiletries will be from Ananda Spa in the Deluxe Suites but we never did see any Ananda Spa Toiletries.

We arrived early at about 8.00 AM and they were considerate enough to give us a room instead of making us wait till 2.00 PM. There was an extra charge but that was acceptable. We had a late Checkout as part of the package which was fine.

The Bell staff and Concierge were really helpful and efficient.

The Breakfast was a spread of Continental, Arabic, Indian & Asian. It was a bit unorganised because the number of people outnumbered the no of seats the place had so it was a bit chaotic every morning finding places to sit. The live egg station had a long queue in front of it every morning.

When we asked for an extra blanket they said they would charge us 50 Baht per blanket per day! Come on Grand President don’t try to squeeze your guests for every little thing.

Another issue was that I had given my Credit card for Guarantee on check in and told them that 1 would pay in cash on checkout. They took a pre authorisation of about 35000 THB which is about 1100 USD and on checking out when I mentioned to them about the cancellation of the pre authorisation they told me it would be automatically taken care of. The pre authorisation took more than 3 weeks to be revoked. When I sent a mail to their reservation department there was no response or action and after another week the Pre Auth was cancelled. So beware your credit limit is blocked to the extent of the pre Authorisation. Try and get this sorted out at reception itself while checking out.

The location is the greatest plus point and it’s very hard to beat with everything around the corners.

See you soon Grand President and Grand President Management please start up the refurbishment work to restore the eroding glory to the Grand Hotel.
