Evergreen Laurel Hotel
Ranked #218 of 879 Hotels in Bangkok
Certificate of Excellence
Reviewed March 4, 2013

This hotel has a good location in a small, quiet street on the corner of busy Sathorn road. There are no restaurants or shops next door, but within a 10-minute stroll, there is a Skytrain station, many banks and restaurants and a busy night market.

Some people may think that the hotel furnishings are old fashioned, but I find that they add a touch of classs and personality. Today, so many hotel rooms look the same and can seem impersonal.
The personnel is very helpful and the buffet breakfast is good.
The Wifi in my room worked OK. The pool is small and in the shade most of the day.
A good falue for the money.
I will plan to stay here again. when I return to Bangkok

Our room was cosy but seemed quite old, not ventilated. Bathroom was flooded 3 nights in a row, and each time they "fixed" it. No 'sorry', no compensation. We planned to get back to this hotel before returning home but after this experience we cancelled and booked at another, cheaper hotel which was just perfect, and also closer to Silom road (with free tuk-tuks to the road). All in all not a bad hotel, I'm sure not all the rooms have flaws. But certainly not good value for the money.

Please don't spend your special occasions here , especially on lunch time. The service and ordering process were nightmare. What you order, you may not even has chance to eat!.. You will have to wait more than 2 hours to get some foods..

First a note about the location - Evergreen Laurel shows up incorrectly located on googlemaps and booking engines, it is just west of the intersection of North Sathorn with Convent, to the East of Chong Nonsi Skytrain and to the south of Sala Daeng Skytrain (not to the West of Chong Nonsi near Myanmar Embassy).

Room was great - most importantly clean, quiet, fantastic shower, nice furnishings - as you would expect for the 4-star rating - it's an old school hotel. Wifi was fine, TV had a couple of movie channels. Front desk staff were always smiling and helpful - one of the managers, a lady, always had a smile, and came up to my room to help with my wifi connection and helped with other stuff like finding out about embassy opening hours.

Not sure about comments here on the refurb noise, I stayed on the 9th floor and was no noise.

Pool is small but fine, and provides somewhere to lounge. It is on the 3rd floor so don't expect rooftop views.

I didn't eat at the restaurant as I did not have breakfast included on the room so I can't comment on that.

Location is good - you have a 10 minute walk up Convent to restaurants, cafes, spas etc just before the mayhem of Patpong and Sala Daeng Skytrain. Secret Garden Restaurant is just across the road on North Sathorn. Or walk down North Sathorn to Chong Nonsi Skytrain and head over to the river. Or meter taxis will be waiting at the hotel. Otherwise not much in the immediate location around the hotel, so be prepared for a little walk to 7-11 etc.

In short this is a pretty good & safe choice in Bangkok away from the hustle and bustle in a nice area, close to Skytrain connections, and I would definitely stay here again if visiting Bangkok in the future.

Stayed at this hotel on many occassions and could never find fault.
During my stay, 21-23 Dec 12 the only problem I had was that although they intimated refurbishment of upper floor suites they managed to put me in a room directly below a room that was undergoing refurbishment.
After bringing this to their attention they did move me to another room.
The following morning it became evident that the room above my "new room" was also being refubished.
The hotel agreed ro waive an early check in charge but the front desk should have been made more aware of the location of ongoing work.
In saying all that, it is still a very good hotel in terms of location and value for money
and would definately consider it again

In the middle of Bangkok, but not in the middle of the traffic jams on Sukhumvit or else, some difficult to find from the skytrain is this 5 star hotel. 10 minutes walk to the BTS station, which bring you around the city. The rooms are as you expect for the price you pay for as is the buffet breakfast and the service. Everything is just perfect, but that is what you expected.

Room Tip: All rooms are good, donot worry.

Breakfast is tasty but the selection is almost the same for everyday. Great location that you can walk to the night market with all the stall selling the street food.
Hotel is clean and need about 20 minutes walk to patong night market or metro station. Free wireless is only at lobby area. A good choice if you wanna shop in Bangkok!
