“Great Service”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 9, 2008

We stayed one night in the Banyan when we had a stop over, As every hotel in this category in Thaailand the service was amazing, we were last minute with everything but they tried and managed to arrange it all.
Altough other Hotels have better design it is a recommendation!

Returned from our 3 night Honeymoon Stay in a Banyan Tree Premier Room we booked on-line which included breakfast at the buffet down near the lobby. The hotel treated us like king and queen and had wine and fruits for us upon arrival. They were very pleasant.

The hotel has a fantastic spa!!!!! Very romantic...we booked a couples massage for I think 4 or 5 hours and it was well worth the time, relaxation, romance, and money.

The hotel room was a suite which was more than sufficient and we were on the 27th floor. There is no reason to upgrade any further.
The site we booked it on was www.agoda.com which was at a better rate than even the hotel's site and included the free breakfast.

This was the start of our trip before heading on to Vietnam for another romantic time.

Having always wanted to stay at a Banyan Tree hotel we had our first experience in Bangkok. The hotel did not disappoint, we were met at the airport by their limousine service which for £35 was a luxurious, smooth start to our stay which I recommend particularly after a long haul flight when you just want to get to your hotel with minimum fuss (return trip by regular taxi was about £8). On arrival we were upgraded to a Premier suite which was a very good start. The Moon Bar and Vertigo on the 61st floor are very special and give the hotel a real USP. A meal at Vertigo was about £60 which is probably expensive for Bangkok but considering its location seemed good value. Interestingly there was no premium on drinks at the Moon Bar over the downstairs, 51st floor bar Altitude 51 so you might as well enjoy the atmosphere on the roof top.
We had spa treatments on 3 out of the 5 days and found them to be of a very high standard. The Banyan Tree takes its spa services very seriously with intensive courses for its staff.
All staff were exceedingly friendly and genuinly warm. We ate next door at the Celadon (Sukothai) and found the staff more aloof and the food no better than the Banyan Tree. The Celedon lacked a bit of atmosphere with over bright lights.
We also ate in one of the Oriental riverside restaurants and again found the staff less attentive and warm than the Banyan Tree. The hotel felt almost too popular and 'touristy'. In comparison we had a morning coffee across the river in the Peninsula where the staff were the only ones apart from those at the Banyan Tree to match attentiveness and warmth.
In summary the Banyan Tree provides 5 star service, excellent restaurants and wonderful spa facilities. I would compare it to the Peninsula (more expensive but river location where most of the sights are) if thinking of visting Bangkok.

We stayed one night in the Banyan Tree, from the moment you set foot into the hotel, you can tell it's different, very serene, quiet and peacfull. The staff are very friendly and helpfull. The rooms are fantastic, with seperate lounge/office from the bedroom and bathroom. The choice of restuarants is good, try the Vertigo, great views over the city, in the outdoor on 60th floor. Not cheap compared with Thailand as a whole, but an experience you won't forget.

We stayed for two nights, and celebrated our anniversary at the Vertigo Restaurant on the roof. Service, location, cleanliness and price all excellent. You don't hear a sound from the traffic below. Food, service in the restaurant are excellent, it's a little poorly lit at night time, so be prepared to squint at your menu! There is a quiet lounge area with complimentary drinks and delicious snacks at tea time and during cocktail hour for certain floors which was very enjoyable after the heat and frenzy of Bankok. Spa - fantastic. The excursion desk was very helpful, excursions were reasonably priced and our guides were terrific. The pool is on the 22nd (?) floor and was nicely laid out and landscaped but poolside you DO hear and smell the traffic, so not very relaxing. Hotel's an easy walk from the nightmarket, don't bother to get a taxi.

This hotel is not the same quality as the Banyan Tree in the Maldives, but the service is warm, friendly and very helpful in all respects. The rooms are good, spa excellent and food good, i would recomend a CLIMB upto the 61st floor and eat in the Vertigo restaurant too, be warned that this is open air and with being so high wind can be a problem too. I would visit again when returning to Bangkok and would recommend this hotel to friends and family alike.

Staying at the Banyan Tree on the last night of our honeymoon we thought would be perfect - unfortunately it turned out to be more of a business hotel and pretty average - especially when compared to the Millenium Hilton.

For the first time in Thailand we encountered slighlty bad service - the receptionist was pretty abrupt and surly!!!

Overall though the hotel probably needs a bit of a makeover and bringing up to scratch to compete with other luxury hotels in the city.

Another minus point was the cost of drinks and dinner in the hotel, Vertigo charges a fotune for drinks and the Japanese restaurant exceeds London for prices so be careful and probably best to eat and drink out of the hotel.
