Upkeeping of facilities, amenities, quality of rooms, F&B, service attitude, and attentiveness were all impeccable. We were addressed very properly by our names all the times, housekeeping was very effective and attentive, food and beverage quality was exceptionally high. Impressive service experience. We'll stay with SukhoThai again.

This is a beautiful hotel: the rooms are lovely and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The food was great and the staff were nice (the conciege service was excellent). The location is not great though - the area lacks some charm and we felt that we could have stayed somewhere a bit more authentic to experience the real Bangkok. Overall a great choice if you want a large 5 star hotel experience but not amazing if you want something a bit more individual.

Most of the 5 star hotels (and many lesser ones) put on an impressive Sunday Brunch, but none come up to the standards of the Sukhothai. My wife and I eat there several times a year (resting in between to allow the kilos to come off). Unlike some of the others, it doesn't include champagne or other wines, so if you like to drink a lot at lunch it could get very expensive (they do provide a good cocktail to start but the rest of the alcohol is to be paid for). We're not big drinkers so it's perfect for us. Most places offer similar fare: oysters, lobster, crab, foie gras, wagyu beef roast, sashimi and sushi, a range of Thai and internsational salads and cooked dishes, cheese and dessert. So it's not the range of choices that sets the Sukhothai apart, but rather the quality. The oysters (about 7 types from France, Japan and Australia) are perfectly fresh, the foie gras (hot and cold) is the best anywhere, the desserts are to die for... From the food perspective, where it shines the very most is in my view its cheese table. A huge range of mostly French cheeses of the very finest quality, served in perfect condition. The Sukhothai also leaves its competitors behind in the quality and attitude of the staff (the best we have seen in Bangkok) and in the serenity of the atmosphere, even wen the restaurant is full. Perfect every time!

We had a truly wonderful stay at the Sukhothai. The room was lovely but what really made a difference was the professionalism of the staff; everyone was well trained, friendly without being obsequious, and just as helpful as could be without ever being interfering.

Our room rate included free soft drinks, wifi and a generous helping of chocolate truffles every day!

A couple more restaurant tips: there is now a branch of David Thompson's Nahm in the Metropolitan Hotel, practically next door; this is very pricey but fabulous; get the concierge to book you a table. Le Siam, also nearby, is much more modest but very good.

We ate at Celadon (excellent Thai food) and La Scala (great Italian food). La Scala is worth it just for the wonderful 'petit fours' that are presented at the end of the meal. They must have a talented baker and fine chocolatier on their staff.

And the breakfast buffet was spectacular - be sure to try the baked ham with your eggs.

I've stayed at some fantastic hotels around the world, but in terms of large five-star city hotels, this is probably the best one I've visited.

The most beautiful and generously proportioned rooms - and exceptional sevice. To be totally pampered and experience a true 5 star hotel experience - this is the place. I really did not want to leave the hotel unless absolutely necessary - from the endless handmade chocolate truffles that would arrive on trays in your room each day - to the huge bathrooms, the Jim Thompson silk upholstered lounges and furniture in the guest rooms - to the water garden and beutiful sculpture gardens - this place is aesthetically exceptional. The service at this hotel is beyond five star and faultless - a rarity to find such consistently exceptional service in a hotel. No bumps or hiccups here - it is smooth sailing the whole way.
The Pool and poolside service means that you will probably want to stay here all day.
Amazing restaurant - Celadon - most probably the best Thai restaurant in the entire city!
using hte fitness centre is like having your own personal trainers on hand - just amazing - I would go back just to use the gym and be trained by the staff there.
I can always find faults with hotels - but not this time. I did not want to leave!
