“Out of all the Bangkok hotels, I would stay at the Sukhothai above all else!”
Reviewed August 12, 2014

This hotel is the best I could find in Bangkok! Clean, amazing staff, delectable food, and the best concierge I have ever had the pleasure of working with. The Sukhothai is in a prime location in the heart of Bangkok. Tippie, the hotel manager, is the hotel's greatest asset. She and her team make it a point to make certain that customer satisfaction is delivered. From dinner reservations to day excursions to recommendations in general, Tippie and her staff try their best to never say "no" to the customer.

The decor is beautiful and modern, yet has many traditional Thai finishes. I have traveled the world, but I will without a doubt ever stay in a different hotel if I visit Bangkok.

My friends and I stayed in the delux suites, which had two an oversized living room, a huge master bedroom, and a master bathroom that was honestly bigger than my 2 car garage.
Everything in the room is deliberate, from the mini bar variety to the decor to the comfort of the bed.

I strongly recommend anyone who is traveling to bangkok to stay in this hotel. Whether you are a business person, single traveler, newly weds or a large family. This hotel has everything to accommodate anyone.

The staff is well educated, speaks several languages, and is respectful of all the customers wishes.

I will be here again. Thanks Sukhothai and Tippie!

The entire Sukhothai experience made my first trip to Bangkok an unforgettable one. From the staff, superb restaurants, facilities, and service, the Sukhothai sought to satisfy my every request to the utmost of their ability. The hotel truly pampers every one of their guests. The La Scala restaurant was a great experience and an Italian rarity in the city of Bangkok. From the moment I first met the Sukhothai airport representative at Suvarnabhumi for my personal car service to the hotel I knew I was being well taken care of. The entire Sukhothai staff is meticulous in every detail of their work and seeks perfection in absolutely everything. Every smile and every greeting exudes an aura of relaxation, hospitality, and care.

The hotel is located in the center of the city and does a great job of promptly getting you either a private car or taxi to go anywhere in the city. The concierge was extremely helpful in planning daily trips and gives you honest answers to every inquiry. They have the knack of understanding your intent in what you want to experience even with little explanation of your own. The pool is sized well and long enough for 25m lap swimming. The Sukhothai's most distinct characteristic is its isolation from the busy streets of Bangkok and is one of the most quiet areas of the city and allows you to achieve a new level of relaxation despite the traffic of Bangkok.

The Sukhothai set a new personal standard in what I'll be comparing other hotels and resorts to. I'll be returning to Bangkok soon and without a doubt will be staying here again.

Because this is a low level hotel the distance from reception to rooms can be quite long.
Staff are friendly and professional.
Pool and dining areas are very nice.
The distance from road to hotel means a nice quiet setting.
Overall very nice.

Following a trip travelling around Thailand, including staying in several 5* hotels / resorts, we rounded off our trip with a 3 night stay at the Sukhothai.

This was not only the best hotel we saw in Thailand, but is up there with the best we have stayed in all over the world.

As a general rule, we are very amenable guests who do not make demands on our hotels / staff beyond the reasonable, and as such we usually have a very good experience at our hotels, and with its staff, but we also have a wide range of experience staying in some of the world's best hotels and can identify shortcomings in any hotels very quickly. We have unfortunately often seen fellow guests treating staff with far less respect than they deserve, and it is the credit to the staff that they handle these situations with utter professionalism and grace.

The Sukhothai is run to perfection! The first thing you notice is that it is beautiful. Its design is gorgeous, combining modern comforts and 5 star service / facilities with the eastern signature feel, ambience and welcome.

Room: We stayed in a superior room which was one of the best rooms of this kind we have seen. The bed was unspeakably comfortable, the design, again, was beautiful and elegant, and the bathroom was large, and finished to a fantastic standard. It was immaculate! One thing we noticed a lot in Thailand was that housekeeping was, generally, quite poor. Rooms would not be cleaned properly, the minibar not topped up, toiletries left un-replaced etc, towels not replaced, light fixtures broken etc, taps/showerheads with limescale, even in 5* hotels, but the Sukhothai had none of these glitches.

Staff: We were made to feel welcome and appreciated from the moments we pulled up in our car, to the moment we left for the airport. The staff in EVERY area of the hotel, ranging from front desk, concierge, doormen, bar staff, house keeping, restaurant staff, spa technicians, etc were all unfailingly brilliant in their balance of superb professionalism and knowledge of their role, and adding the personal touch which made you feel individual and appreciated. A true credit to the hotel, who obviously have a very good knowledge of exactly how customer service should work, and can create a memorable experience for the guest.

Food/Restaurants: The food, served in each area of the hotel, was diverse, and universally high quality. Whether snacks by the pool, or an a la carte meal in one of their several restaurants, the food was fantastic. A diverse wine-list (something again quite rare for Thailand) and a large selection of drinks both alcoholic and non. The breakfast range was excellent!!

This hotel leaves nothing wanting. It delivers all its services to an impeccable standard, and is the perfect place to stay and 'get away' from the hubbub of Bangkok, whilst being in a fantastic central location of the city.

Thank you for a brilliant stay - and congratulations on creating such a high quality hotel experience with your combination of superb staff, personal service, traditional relaxed atmosphere, and high-end elegance. You are operating at a standard that hotels such as Kempinski, Dorchester, Four Seasons, W, and any other high-end hotel group would be proud of! No surprise that the Sukhothai is featured in the elite 'Leading Hotels of the World' community.

Excellent!

I liked this hotel - it's quiet and relaxing (rare in BKK) on a road without hawkers. But only 10 min walk to the MTR so pretty convenient to get about without needing taxi's (there is also a bus stop right outside the hotel). The room was nice and the bed very soft (VERY soft, my husband didn't like it because it was too soft).
The bathroom is nice, with separate deep bath and shower.
However, there was no coffee sachets for the coffee machine, and no tea (only horrible fruit infusions) and no way to get hot water except for the coffee machine. I rang up and they sent me a kettle and coffee sachets but still no tea. Didn't seem to understand that I actually wanted TEA not fruit infusions! So communication is a little dodgy. Plenty of plugs although some are hidden away in the desk. Good temperature control. No iron, we had to ring up for that too.
Nice gym and pool.
Good food.

We love the afternoon spent at the hotel with the lovely chocolate afternoon tea buffet. Both the savory and the sweet items were of good quality. The freshly blended hot chocolate added a personal touch to the event. Great choice for chocolate lovers..
