The Sukhothai is a beautiful Hotel very well located and with amazing rooms.
However, I would not recommand this Hotel to families with young children.
We did not feel we were welcome with our kids to the Sukhothai, for a few reasons : 1. They could not find a bb sitter for us and finally they found a nurse at a totally prohibitive price 2. They ask us to get out of the breakfast room because one of our kid was speaking too loudly (the guests are mainly on business) 3. The concierge found that our taxi was not smelling good (our young kid had a little accident;)) and said to one of the guest without saying hello to us that he sould not take the same taxi, which was really not nice.

Let me just say upfront that this hotel is divine. If I could rack up the cash to stay here all the time, I would. Situated along Sathorn Road it is a good hundred baht ride from MBK . Turn off the meter in the traffic! Next to Banyan Tree and the wonderful rooftop bar and up the road from the spectacular Blue Elephant and I think David Thompson's Nahm is close by though I didn't get there this time.
A long hedged drive reveals a fairly low rise hotel surrounded by the de riguer manicured gardens and gorgeous ponds and statuary.
Check in is a breeze, thank you Jacky.
Rooms are very tastefully appointed and spacious. I repaired to the pool, when not sightseeing and it is just beautiful.
Breakfast is of a high standard and has all the regular buffet options as well as to order eggs, pancakes etc.
I was pleasantly surprised by the room service menu and prices. Food - green chicken
curry was delectable and beautifully presented. As I had only two nights and they were both spent with family, I didn't get to try the restaurant. Next time.
Thank you, thank you, thank you. Bliss on a stick.

I expected a good stay, but then, it's much BETTER than I expect... the staff is very professional and friendly. Other than that, all the rest of the hotel is well above standard. If you want to pamper yourself once, this hotel is highly recommend.

I have been visiting this hotel for around 20 years and the standard of the hotel has remained extremely high. There is fantastic attention to detail and it is staffed by quite exceptional people who clearly care about their jobs and go the extra mile to make your stay comfortable.
The hotel is commendably low rise and designed with real style, giving it a very Thai feel.
This is an enthusiastic review so let me just select a few of the highlights of the hotel:
1. The beds are exceedingly comfortable
2. The central courtyard is restful and always a pleasure to look at
3. The buffet breakfast is about as good as it gets and if you want something that's not on the buffet, the staff will do their best to find it
4. The pool is designed for a proper swim and the ambiance around it is relaxing.
But I need to stress that it is the wonderful staff that really make this the best hotel I have ever stayed in Thailand - where hotel standards are impressively high overall.
I just hope that this level of service can be maintained
My only criticism is that despite several attempts at getting the bar right - it still does not work probably because there is no comfortable seating and, this is no more than a niggle but what's with the new lighting system in the rooms?

We are really excited to know that we have kept you highly interested in our hotel, for the last 20 years.

It is really good that you enjoy the Garden Courtyard so much, which was recently rated as one of the best in “Five City Hotels with Gardens” article in Businesstraveller.asia and our famous Breakfast at Colonnade restaurant.

Furthermore we are mostly glad for our Staff, which with team work and love for the hotel provided you the best possible service.

Thank you very much for choosing The Sukhothai Bangkok once more.

We really hope to have you back again soon.

We were very impressed with the service we got in Sukhotai Bangkok. The stuff were very attentive, polite and professional. We have stayed in many luxury hotels in Bangkok before, but the service we got in Sukhothai was definitely the best! We had a anniversary celebration and had a dinner in Celadon restaurant. The restaurant was beautiful, food was excellent and the service, yes, fantastic. Special thanks to guest service manager Wattanaree and Food & Beverage operations manager Botan. I'll still have to mention that the Breakfast is probably the best in town.

Recently spent 4 nights at this hotel. I was overall very impressed with the service, room quality and ambiance. Upon arrival, the staff performed a quick check in a we were exhausted after 20 hours of flying. The room was on the small side but had a nice view of the grounds. The hardwood floors were gorgeous and the the bathroom was superb. We had breakfast at the restaurant each morning and found the selection to be good, though not superb. The Celadon restaurant was excellent and had an outstanding set menu for a Thai dinner. The spa was excellent though signficantly overpriced as compared to the massage parlor around the corner. What gives this hotel 5 stars is the service from the staff- outstanding on every level. Particularly the concierge- well done and would definetly return.
